I was never able to gain weight and I started using Muscle milk in college. Gained 10 lbs over 2 months. Not all muscle, but it did help me put on weight.

depending on how much and fast you want to gain, muscle milk probably wont work. its not necessarily a "true" weight gainer. i havent looked at a bottle in a while, but if i remember correctly one serving has roughly 250-300 calories. something like dymatize or gaspari nutritions mass gainer contain over 500 calories. but you have to remember that its not just about consuming more calories. it is true that more calories equates to more mass but alot may be fat mass. for a sport like lacrosse im assuming that you would want to gain mainly lean muscle mass. protein protein protein. its key. but you have to remember its not about quantity its about quality. roughly 1 to 1 1/2 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. i would stick to doing olympic lifts to gain muscle. quality squats, powercleans, deadlifts, and bench. exercises like powercleans and deadlifts will help out your fast twitch muscle fibers making you react faster with more power on the field. its also important to remember that although you are trying to pack on mass, keep up on your cardio. wind sprints 3 times a week and mix that up with some good mid to long distance cardio and you should be fine. sorry for all this but good luck with the muscle milk. and if it doesnt work for ya theres alot of other really good products out there. i like mhp's "up your mass" with their post workout dark matter. hit me up if you have any questions on this stuff. love talking about training and nutrition.

I definitely agree on the power cleans. They helped my explosiveness more than anything back when I was playing sports. Not to mention they're a full body workout. But make sure you're doin em right...way to easy to get hurt doin em unless you have near perfect form.

There's no magic supplement that will "build you up." It's a simple matter of calories in vs. calories out, the quality of those calories, and how you use those calories.

If you weigh 150 lbs. and eat 4000 cal. a day but don't workout you're simply going to get fat. If you workout but eat 4000 calories a day in sugar and other carbs, you are going to get fat and not have enough aminos for proper protein synthesis = little to no muscle gains.

If you eat 3500 calories of a proper balance of carbs proteins and fats (50/30/20) then you will make appreciable muscle gains with minimal fat if you're following the right lifting program.

Adding a supplement like Muscle Milk will help you achieve your protein and calorie count each day which will make the job of gaining muscle/weight easier and more convenient IF you are following the right weight training program. People buy into the supplement game all the time and it's such a waste of time and money if you expect it to do something magical without everything else in place beforehand. Lift. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. Add supplements for convenience only.

i took it a little but it didnt make me leaner. instead i gained muscle and a little extra because it had too much other crap in it. Now i just "try" to eat 2 chicken breasts a day and that keeps me lean and strong.

Just go the cheap route and get full fat milk. Tastes great and works well. Don't just rely on powders and supplements either. I found that they're all crap once you have your diet dialed in for the most part. But again can get to be expensive and supps might be easier to get sometimes. Make sure your meals are divided into a ratio of: 35% protien and carbs and 30% fats. Carbs should for the most part not come from breads/ pastas; try to be gluten free. Fats should be healthy such as almonds, macadamia nuts, avocados. Every meal ensure you eat the amount of food you're supposed to, i.e. don't just eat nuts then 2 hrs later eat some meat and so on. Look into the hard gainer diet on here:

    Good luck

Muscle milk won't do it for yeah.

BSN products are great for gaining muscle mass. However, you can't just take the supplements though have to keep a specific workout plan for putting on size.
    No Xplode
    Cell mass
are some products i have used over that last few years.

there are few others I can't think of that are good.

go to www.bodybuilding.com you can find some great deals and reviews for supplements.

thats common though. unless you are genetically gifted everyone will gain some fat as they gain muscle. you cant go from 150 scrawny to 200 diced and shredded unless like i said youve got great genetics or prohormone/ steroid supplementation. look at competing bodybuilder. carry extra weight in the off season then when it comes time for a show we diet down. besides not having enough bf can really negatively affect mood and other bodily functions. but just as one or two posts above, its not just about eating. eating will just cause girth (waist increase). you want to pack on quality dense lean muscle. dont turn to supplements asa magic key for anything. its all about hardwork.

I think its all just a waste of money unless your fully commited.

One more thing i dont get is why your trying to "bulk up", size does matter in some cases but for lax i would think you would need to be quick and powerful, not big and strong (slow).

I appreciate all of the advice guys, I read through every one of the replies. I need all the help I can get, I'm 18 and, from what many people have told me about my body type, I should be able to gain muscle/mass very quickly. I'm 5'4 and I weigh around 120, so I'm a pretty skinny guy. Lacrosse helps me get in shape pretty quickly from a lower body standpoint (legs, core, etc). Upper body is what I've been focusing on alot lately, and I'm hoping this will help out a bit.

Again, thanks for the advice everyone!

ya dude at 18 your test levels are on fire, allowing for rapid maintainable growth. keep to the basics, lift safe and heavy, keep up the cardio, eat with discipline, but most of all have fun doing it. when i was 18 i was 5'7" and a little heavier maybe..130ish, now at 23 im 5'7" 180lbs at 8-10%bf on any given day. takes time and effort but youll get there. definitely check out www.bodybuilding.com they have some great sport specific workouts on that site. dont think that they have one for lacrosse, but check out hockey. great info and pics and vids to check out to truly learn proper form and technique. hit it hard, stay safe, have fun n kick some a** out on the field.

i just got some supps from bodybuilding.com its a great site and lots of tips and things for the gains you want. i would look into monster mass. its a weight gainer muscle builder. being active in lacross you should be fine with the burning of the calls so you wont get fat from it but will see the gains in about 2 weeks. no-expload is out dated and there is many more newer products out there that work much better. but its all just personal preference. everything changes daily and there are to many things to explain. but like they said before. EAT RIGHT.. thats the biggest problem i have with gaining size. i dont have the time or motivation to eat right and it totaly f's my body up

as long as you make sure you are getting the new version of creatine. cee or creatine ethyl ester. try to stay away from the creatine monohydrate version. also make sure it is sugar and aspartame free. many people have a misconception that creatine will only pack on water. its true that with the old version..monohydrate..you would pack on alot of subcutaneous water. giving you a soft bloated look. the newer stuff is great. but make sure you drink at least 1-1 1/2 gallons of water daily. it will actually help you achieve a "dryer" denser look along with maintaining maximum hydration.
