    Haiti was obviously decimated in this tragedy. I just wanted a space for us to talk about it, or maybe get TW in on some donations. The Red Cross is doing disaster relief, and one of the best ways for us to help is to give. Below I included the link if you're interested.

    The fastest way to donate may be by text. Text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross relief efforts. Or text "Yele" to 501 501 to donate $5.

    UNICEF is doing a donation collection as well.. It will go for clothing, vaccinations, food, shelter, etc. for kids in Haiti. If you're interested in that, click here

    Mercy Corps is also a great place to give as well.

    I applied to volunteer over there myself.. (was denied, see post #7 if you're curious why) but they could use any monetary help they can get. What I personally have done is set up a box in the break room at work for donations to Haiti. Any amount will help of course. Be creative and see what you can do.

    Which makes sense to me.. just thought i'd write this in case anyone else was thinking of doing the same thing.

    Thanks Ben. I just wish i could go over there.. but it makes sense that they dont want every Tom Dick and Jane to wander the streets over there.. Professional people who are trained for these situations all over the globe are heading in that direction. I believe the best way for us to help is to donate or raise funds. I'll start a box here at my job for Haiti. Any amount would help. The area is completely decimated and considering these people live on less than a dollar a day; without help they won't have anything left.

    I don't think we'll ever really know how many died in this catastrophe. :(

    Is this worse then Katrina as far as death toll ?

    They don't actually know what the population even IS over there. It grows so rapidly and there isn't really the funds to understand things like population control/density

    And yes, worse than Katrina for sure. My guess will be 10,000.

    I heard 3 million lived in the area where is SHOOK hardest. THAT'S insane! When the earthquake 1st hit, it shook for 32 seconds! I am thinking it may be closer to 20,000. Dude this sucks! WOW

    Yup! Epicenter was basically RIGHT in town.. only located 6 miles deep.. that's NOTHING when it comes to earthquakes! They felt every bit that 7.0 could give them. Not only that, but the 10+ aftershocks they're still getting. The worst was a 5.9. They've been averaging in the 5.0 range (between 3.5-5.9)

    The sad part of our relief is that Hatii is soooo courupt. If we thought money was mis-managed in New Orleans, this will make New Orleans look like a well run ship! :(
