Installing two 12" subs and amp in a double cab?

Hey guys I have an older set of speakers from another car that I've been wanting to install in my truck but I'm not sure if it's possible. This is a BIG and LOUD system!

I have an 07 double cab and I was thinking about pulling out the rear plastic liner and fitting them in there but I'm hoping someone has a system already and can help me with ideas.

The subs are Alpine Type R2 1000 watts each with a Rockford Fosgate amp to match. They currently have a very large carpeted box but I won't be using the box in this truck (obviously!)

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

yes they fit and will work just fine.
Zman2k2 has 2 of our triton 12s in his truck

 

What kind of box would be required for this application? I'm feeling like it would cost more for the box than a whole system

 

Are zman's mounted behind the seat? Is there enough space back there with the liner or did he take that out?

@ZMan2k2, yes he took the plastic out and possible a very small seat bracket mod

 

He can build a box out of 1 sheet of wood probs. Thats 33 bucks. The type r 12s and fosgate amp probably ran him over 500 new.

 

these boxes use less than 1 full sheet but yes, cheap.
Depending on the mounting depth you may have to use a section of fibre glass for the rear panel. IN the usa that is cheap as well

 

Whats the mounting depth on the 12s. And are you against sitting the box on the seat? If you have a double cab lift up the rear seat bottoms and let it rest on the storage thangs. Im building myself a box for 2 15s thatll fot there

 

Yes they were very expensive back in the day when I bought them. If I remember right the subs were about $250 each and the amp alone ran me about $1000.

 

I'm not sure about the exact depth. I haven't taken them out of the existing box since I bought them. The existing box is about 18" deep, 3 feet long and about 20" tall with the amp mounted to the top.

 

I'm open to mounting them anywhere I can fit them as long as it's inside the cab and I don't lose seating.

 

Check my build log to see what i did for my amp, the way im making it is so i can slide my soon to be built box out and just disconnect the speaker wire if i need seats.

That 3 inch deep amp has barely enough room, good luck fitting a type r and box back there

 

This is my current setup. I'm considering taking your idea and just removing the rear seat and putting a quick connect on the existing subs so I can swap them when needed. Pardon the princess hat in the background, the subs are currently in the back of my wife's explorer.

 

You need .85 cubes internal for each driver. Is that available using at least .75" material (consider bracing as well)?

 

Take the amp off and put it behind seats with all wiring, and then put that thing on the under seat storage with the seat bottoms flipped up. Then all you need is but disconnect the speaker wire and slide out then drop seats.
