Seems like moisture gets into the rear sensors very easily... dumb-ass Toyota... maybe a dab of silicone would fix most problems..!!

They are built into the corners of the bumper. BSM aren't the little circles, those are park assist

yeah I knew they weren't the little circles, from the pictures they look like square objects inside the bumber.
and I was reading on some site that sometimes mud, dirt, spider cobwebs and other stuff can make the sensor go off all if ur lucky u just have to clean it.
that made me think u can access it to mabe at least wrap it.

idk it was just a thought

    lol EXACTLY!!
it's almost useless in this truck...

but for my model (TRD OR)
I don't think I had an option along with others.
but I guess if ur a shitty driver it's good or if u wanna roll the dice an trust a computer with possibly ur life then go for it.

I just hate that my NEW truck has a big yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it on my gauge cluster.

I know I can turn the BSM off but it's just annoying knowing that it's faulty

Toyota has trouble with the simplest things yet builds some of the most reliable vehicles you can buy. Blows my mind. As a motorcyclist I pay attention to cars that I pass and most brands blind spot monitor seem to work pretty well from my observations. Probably shouldn't rely on it though I guess is the lesson.

I think the "cross traffic" alert is supposed to give you an audible warning from the top of the pillar behind the driver if you are backing out and a vehicle is coming from either side..., but My system has NOT worked for 10 months... never had that happen yet...!!

I spent some time thinking that my system was malfunctioning... and then I came to discover that it only indicates vehicles that are travelling around +/- 10mph from the speed of the truck. Probably to keep it from picking up walls and junk while driving around.

Same here just got finished taking it in for the third time. All it takes is one trip to the beach and a guarantee it will break again. Almost every time I go it happens. I even have tried to wash under the bumper and it did not fix the problem.

The BSM would go crazy sensing my trailer so I stopped using it while towing.
One time around 7000kms I forgot to disable it and it went nuts until malfunctioned and would not reset since.

@8000kms went in for service #1 just after installing ride rites in the back.
They didn't have time to look for BSM issue so it was postponed until my next visit.

Around 9000kms I put on 285's and now keep the back at about 2" lift, front 5100's @ 1.75 setting.
Just did 16000kms service #2 including first oil change and BSM fix, dealer said oversize tires are causing BSM code C1AC1 (Master Module Horizontal Axis Misalignment).

Is it possible for bigger tires and/or mild lift to interfere with BSM or are they full of it? Problem did start before the bigger tires.

Tech also recommended changing the oil every 8000kms instead of 16000kms like Toyota says in the manual.

    Thanks for inputs!

UPDATE:.... My previous post in December of last yr.... I finally had time to leave it for them to fix... First day... they changed the rear left sensor...NO GO.... Today they changed a section of the wiring harness back there and it's working again... for how long..??? :fingerscrossed:
