    Lol theres that. Thats why i have considered checking out the new 6.2 in the Chevy/GMC lots of power and from what I've heard better mileage then the 5.7 still. I've tested a few duramaxs and even powerstrokes.

    I drive a 2015 2500 duramax for work and average 18-19mpg... i get almost 600 miles per tank. And I'm only at 120,000 miles on it.

    My dad has the 6.2 in his Escalade and it actually gets decent mileage and makes great power. He's a lead foot so that says something.

    Thanks Zane. Like maybe 3 or 4 mm or less I think.

    Monte referred to it a a shim, but I think later he was referring to making a whole new spacer to fill the gap. IIRC, the spacer he made originally is only a few mm small.

    @Blackdawg You are referring to how much that little sleeve in the alt bracket moved and was sticking out, correct? The one you had to 'press' back in so the stock alt would fit back into the mounting bracket.

    That pinch sleeve in the alt is supposed to take up the slack in a GM application, but maybe it is too small for where you're using it?

    Overheating would not have been an issue because she would have been able to cool down while idling, waiting for Monte to give you a tug up some of those obstacles. :luvya:

    We did it in the easy direction. All of the challenging sections were on the downhill side of the pass. I think Ben, with his lack of a locker, would have really struggled in some of those steep, uphill sections.

    Well it did take up the slack as far as I could tell. But if you have to return to stock as a trail fix, moving the sleeve back out of the way can be a challenge. I think the reason for a larger spacer or a shim is to make it easier to swap back to stock on the trail.

    That is easy for you to say now, but at the time you knew going back up would have been a real challenge for you.

    Your guys' arguments always crack me up.

    Clearly the only solution here is to actually wheel a technical trail where Ben can find the limits of his rig and we can see if he's still over-confident. Shoshone wasn't that hard IMO.

    Ha. That is what Monte wanted. He wanted to go re-run the trail in the opposite direction. It definitely would have been more difficult in that direction. But too late now. It'll be a while before we return to Crowsnest.

    It is probably best tho that we didn't end up doing it at the time. Ben's tire was cut and we didn't know it at the time. Plus Monte's front diff was about to disintegrate.

    Ya I would like to test one, the 5.3 was decent, but felt pretty gutless honestly.

    Lol see if I could justify one I would get it just for better mileage on the highway heading back to Montana. And the longevity of the motor. Just save up and buy the exact trim and specs you want and keep it and just start saving for a side toy.

    Cause you wheel where a stock truck can go.

    And yes. I would have taken Igor everywhere we went this last trip. I'll probably never bring Frank again on a trip with you again. Just need tires and sliders and I would be plenty happy going where you go.

    Not really considering a guy who's never taken a chance in his life with his rig and never once had a serious trail injury is trying to tell me his rig is superior because he has never take a risk with it ever or pushed it beyond its abilities or broken it to be put in the situation of do I go one or turn back?
