My current project was suppose to be a 1yr gig. Have had nothing but problems since we started last week. Found out today that we're possibly working on an Indian burial site.
Means I'll have a full time archaeologist on site starting tomorrow and my production is gonna tank!

I actually think it's really cool when they find old Indian artifacts but just not on my job lol. They have full control of where I can and where I can't work. Throws a wrench in my entire program so now I've gotta stay 10 steps ahead To have a fall back area to send my equipment to if they find something and still be productive.

I've worked on a couple sites like that. On one site my buddy was running an excavator loading trucks off the stockpile when all of a sudden he stopped loading trucks and got off his excavator threw his hands up and walked away. I asked him what was wrong and he wouldn't answer I walked up to the Excavator and sitting in the bucket facing him was a human skull. That was the final straw they shut the job down.

 

Yes it is. Not our our end but the developers end. Now his 2.3 million dollar grading budget just doubled. Good for us in the long run but just adds a shit load more stress and documentation on my end.

 

Yeah definitely. I can't imagine what it all adds to your plate, but like you said, more money in the long run I suppose

 

I work for an environmental consulting firm.. I've actually been in charge of organizing all the cultural resources comments/documentation for a site at an undisclosed location in CA to report to the state. We had to have three Native American reps and an archaeologist on site for the first half of the project.. and it wasn't even that big of a site to begin with. The city (client) had to shell out a lot more cash.
