Your missing my point which is we don't dohard trails.

As you pointed out none on my breakage has been from trails. But I wheel with you and mike on big trips. Both of you don't like getting very far out of your comfort zone is my point.

Wyo doesn't offer anything super hard, thus my go fast approach and was hoping to go hang with brett and James to do some technical stuff to actually put my truck to use.

That's cause you have time to maintain it haha hopefully it'll become less of an ordeal for me..well...depending on how life turns out for me job wise..

Damn. My mom is gonna call on that.

Hey guys. My wife and I are going to be driving through Wyoming to the Big Horn national forest with a stop in Thermopolis to check out the springs. We are gonna do some camping, hiking and wheeling hopefully. Any sights we shouldn't miss or hikes or trails that we must try out? This is a beautiful state so wanna get the most we can out of this trip. Thanks guys! :burnrubber:

    Cool! You'll be fine.

    So......

How about a detour? Like up to Hyatville. There are petroglyphs up there that are cool. Then one super steep road up the mountain that goes through some super pretty country.

That road ties into a main road that you can start going all over.

Granted I don't know the south side as well as the north. The south canyon is pretty though. But I'll be much more helpful on the north end.

    Up for hiking too?

Yea we had heard of some petroglyphs up there that we should check out. I did not know the town they were near though. That is now on our list. Is this steep road paved or a trail?

It's dirt. Not really trail but it's a dirt road. Been a while since I've been up it.

Cool. Well go there. There are dinosaur tracks as well in the foot hills north of there outside of greybul before shell. Also very cool. Could hit that on the way out. There is dirt roads all the way from Hyatville to them but they are confusing mining roads and I haven't plotted the route.

Going to granite pass and copemans tomb is also cool. Copemans is a small walk. Nothing hard and the view is stellar up top. Which you could tie this all up if you come up Hyatville. Can end up camping at pair Rock lakes first night. Then go off into shell resivour area. Cool camping back there and lots of road up past shell to ardane and Adele lake. There is a cool long hike to upper shell lake that is pristine country.

Then you can come out of there and take the ranger creek road to morane creek to sleep and walk around that area. West of there is beautiful valley after valley that is fun to walk through.

Then out morane to granite pass and up to copemans tomb. Then camp at the upper spot on copemans, hopefully it's not taken. Then out she'll canyon to the Dino tracks.

When exactly are you planning on this? I can get maps made up of that if you want this weekend.

Or hell. Maybe make a wyo TW meet? I bet Marc and Jen would be up for it. :boink: and maybe others...

We are headed there this weekend. The 2nd to the 5th. All that sounds great to me I'll run it by the wife to see what she wants to do. So maps would be awesome. We will be staying at the boulder park camp ground as our base camp so we will circle back there at night. I would be up for a meet as well

It's kinda near meadow lark lake. It's the southern end. We use a tent. I wish I had a camper or an RTT. Those are sweet.

    Roger.

I was gonna poke around the big horns looking for elk. Bow isn't setup though so not ready to kill anything.

@gmr102 i see that camp ground is by meadowlark lake. Everything I told you is a good ways north of that. Won't work well to come from there every night.

That said. There are a few roads that will take you close to the wilderness. Then just start walking. Don't get lost please. Had two people do that in the last two weeks already. But it's pretty much pretty anywhere. If you're okay with pitching the tent every night in a new place. Then my plan above is easily doable.

We will figure something out. Thanks for the help it's always good to get advice from locals before going anywhere you haven't been. I'll do my best not to get lost. Nature is beautiful but should be respected!
