Lift help

I've recently decided to go with a more cost effective way to accommodate the desired 3" of lift all the while still being able to take her off road quite a bit. This way I can afford to plate everything underneath and get some rock sliders.

Planning on installing myself... Does this seem like a good cost effective way to go to get a 3" coilover lift in front and level out the rear without blocks or spacers? Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't think you'd get the greatest quality ride out of that setup you posted. Take a little more time and scope out other options. The Dakar leaf pack will be fine tho.

Curious why neither kit has sway bar drop? The OME kit has the differential drop, which I would think would be advisable. I currently have a ready lift that came with sway bar and differential drop shims, getting ready to order new coils and shocks myself for softer ride.

 

I would honestly do it right the first time, but who am i to say that . . . . i went with a full MT setup and im now wanting to go long travel.

So Marie offers a couple of kits that you can choose from, i believe her most popular kit/bundle would be the Headstrong Offroad Bundle. If im not mistaken comes with the Bilstein Shock in the front with all the necessary hardware. Then for the rear it includes some OME Nitrochargers and the Dakar full replacement leaf pack and whatever else is needed.

Of course there are more kits like either a full Bilstein or full OME setup but those two are pretty similar in fashion and it wouldn't hurt to choose from the 2.

If i remember clearly weren't you planning on going with a Full King setup front and rear? Im guessing you changed from that thought of train due to fundings for accessories? In the end if you know you want that in the future i would just save up for that rather then going setup to setup . . . . .

Yea I was originally going to go with a King setup front and rear, however I think I got a little ahead of myself in the budgeting department and I just bought a full skid setup through RCI so I need to find a good 3" setup for around $1k... Perhaps the OME setup with coilovers and dakars for AAL is my best bet? I'm unfortunately a complete novice with suspension but am planning to install myself, so I need a fully assembled front coilover. Are those using the OME setup getting a full 3"? and able to run 285/70/17's with no rubbing?

Headstrong has a package with 887 coils/90021 struts with coil assembly/HS 3 leaf/ and LR UCA's for $1,353. Seems legit to me... Anyone have a recommendation for 90021 soft ride strut over the 90000's?

After Talking to Headstrong looking at going with 888 coils, 90021 struts, and a Dakar leaf pack... In need of some clarity regarding the real AAL though... The dakar leaf pack I believe will give me 2 1/2" in the rear. Will the 90021 struts play any role in lift? Do I replace my stock leafs entirely? or add the dakars to them for the extra 1/2"? Really just wanna get a full 3". Also once at 3" 285/70/17 should fit without rubbing right? Soo many questions ugh!

 

The sway bar relocate is only for 2.5 coilover. It's so the sway bar doesn't hit the coil.

 

If you go with the Dakar full replacement leaf pack, you will be taking your stock one out completely and fully replacing it with the dakar pack. Yes those 90021 struts will play a role in lifting the front because i believe you will be getting a coil on it also.

 

The Full OME Dakar leaf pack replacement will provide quite a bit more hauling, towing, and off-road capability over the stock pack. However it will be stiff since you are adding more steel out back but that is the give-and-take in order gain the additional capabilities. The OME pack will provide approx. 2.75”-3” of rear lift over stock. You will maintain the rake of the truck as well. If the overall rear height is too much for you or the ride seems too stiff you can remove the 3rd leaf. Doing so will decrease the spring rate by 15% and the overall height by 15mm. You can also remove the long overload and that will decrease the lift height by ½” but not affect the spring rate. If you feel you need more from the pack there is the OME add-a-leaf which can be added in and that will give you around 15mm of increased lift height and 15% more spring rate. It is not recommended to run the aal just for extra height since the ride from it can be rather stiff if the extra weight is not present.

 

How much extra weight we talking? I just purchased CBI overland bars and a smittybilt tent that will probably always be on the back as well as two 5gal jerry cans and a high lift jack...

 

The Dakar pack will handle those items really well. If you find yourself with around 1000lbs of consistent weight then you could add in their add-a-leaf for extra support. Keep in mind that they leaf packs help significantly with load but the truck is only rated for a certain weight. So other factors can come into play.
