There is no way I would pay $48k for a Tacoma. Especially the minimal difference in the pro vs off-road package.
    I was able to get my 16 trdor for $33k. That's a $15k difference!

You could try True-car. I checked in mid Florida and True-car had a 4X4 pro short bed at $43500. If you do check True-car use your wife's name when you get pricing, If you don't go with True-Car the dealer will not haggle because you contacted True-car and they have your info and they will not go lower.

Almost 50k out the door for a Tacoma? No way, I can't believe people are paying that for this truck. I mean I believe it but that is completely stupid. If you want to dump that much money into a tacoma you might as well get a 4x4 Off road and spend 15k in mods for it. You'll end up much better off.....

Take an honest look at what you are getting for your money here. Is it worth it? If so, pony up. If not, tell the dealer to call you when they get serious.

It is a Tacoma, in no way shape or form is it worth that much money. It's the same truck as a 4x4 OR with a few overpriced accessories. It would be one thing if it got a different engine compared to the rest but it doesnt.

don't mean to piss you guys off, but if you reread these threads and you listen to the guys that are complaining about how much the Tacoma TRD Pro cost, y'all sound like a bunch of girls Crying. Nowadays you gotta pay to play. I'll tell you right now the ride on the pro is amazing, and the interior looks even better in person. I can't even look at a regular Tacoma in the same light anymore. I'm sorry my comment doesn't contain any valuable information, but I just had to chime in because it seems as if this forum (when it comes to the pro) is littered with a bunch of crybabies

It's a TRD Off-Road with Fox Shocks, a Sport Hood, and a couple TRD Pro stickers. If that's worth the additional money, buy it, if not, buy a TRD Off-Road, swap hoods with a TRD Sport, buy the Fox Shocks, and use the savings to mod it. Or you could send your savings to me

Edit - It also has a different Grill

It's not crying it's just an opinion and a logical one at that. Anyone could make their Tacoma look just as good and ride just as amazing for less than the 10-15k extra people are paying.

All my local dealer were tacking on $5-$10k (San Diego area) I emailed all around and found a truck about 100 miles away that was arriving within a week without any games, so I went for it. They delivered it to my house for nothing. The Pro's are out their, shop around. I had 2 other offers at sticker but those weren't arriving till end of Sept.

I need to update my profile picture I guess. Haha. PS: love my new Pro. Was it $$ yes, I could have gotten a normal off-road and likely been just fine, but that cement color, Rims, shocks... Ride quality... Interior just looks killer. Do I feel ripped off? No I don't. Had I paid a 'market adj' then yeah I would have. I feel MSRP is already pretty damn high. But knowing how much I just sold my 4x2 Imferno TRD sport for (pretty much exactly what I paid for it, minus the taxes) a year after I bought it... Resale is so strong. You'd lose more buying most other brands trucks, and that's the true cost of owning. Not the probe you pay, it's the price you sell it for minus the price you paid. Only that number really matters.

also the TRD Pro skid plate.

... and no option for moonroof or JBL audio either if those are important to someone.

Pro does get the blind spot, cross traffic, and other parts of the Premium & Tech package plus Tow package as standard.

At my age (40), you buy what you want. i've worked hard all my life, $45k was a drop in the bucket, and I'm just a contractor. Boys do what they can, men do what they want. But that cement color tho!

The phone and/or email is your friend. Figure out how you want the truck equipped and start calling around. $3500 can pay for a lot of gas and a first class plane ticket to a dealer willing to sell without added dealer mark-up. The more you are willing to put in the time shopping the better deal you will get.

This. The same market forces that usually see dealers selling vehicles below sticker are causing them to sell the TRD Pro above sticker. Same story with other in-demand vehicles like the 1st gen Ford Raptor and Honda S2000 back in the day.

What did Ford do when they saw this? They jacked up the sticker for the 2nd gen Raptor...

If it makes you feel better, Ford dealers are jacking the markup on the new Raptor from $5-$15 grand over msrp
