Best experience I've heard was a tw member had an oem battery last 7 yrs. However, there's data that shows our oem batteries really fault exponentially after about 3 full expelled events (letting the battery die). For the terminals I spray them monthly with this stuff pictured and then grease the area with dielectric grease. In fact tomorrow I'm detailing my engine bay and I'll be doing this.

Interesting. Mine never once got so weak CCA it couldn't turn over the motor. I've gottencl into a habit of using dielectric grease after realizing this battery was corroding this hard.

My lady's car died randomly one night. I went to jump her little Mazda and the corrosion on the terminals was so bad I missed a connection on the positive terminal. Since then I've monitored the term/post link.

Guys, just clean your batt posts with Arm&Hammer (luke warm water mix) and drown those batt terms for any and ALL corrosion. Finally, jelly that shi- up with Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly). You will NEVER have to do any batt post maintenance again, TRUST!!!

I also make sure that the Petroleum Jelly is "inside" the exposed copper/cable wires. Looks like shi- when it is put on, but when the engine bay heat gets to it, it looks like a smooth glass coating. Plus, a small jar will last you for YEARS!!! I have a small toothbrush that I use to coat the batt terms and have it in my toolbox.

    Anyways, just say'n bros!!! :notsure::thumbsup:

@BLKTRUCK Oscar and @ODNAREM Ron just in case you didn't know

btw, those pictures show the batt terms NOT being touched for almost 5yrs now, LOL!!! I admit that I don't keep my engine bay "clean" very well. Just dust if anything, but I really do want to clean it someday. Anyways, that is besides the point, just showing my batt terms and how clean they are from "fuzzies" on the terminals!!!

That's basically what dielectric grease does. It's just designed to conduct electricity well

Just some friendly spam in case anyone missed it.

    BRUERY TERREUX MEET UP
    When : Thursday, 9/1 : 8pm(tentatively?)
What : Belgian beer and sours!
Where : Bruery Terreux, 1174 N Grove St, Anaheim, CA 92806 park across the street from the main parking lot for pictures
Who : anyone welcome to show
Why : This is a small spot that seems to be having some trouble really kicking off so if you're into Belgians and such lets get on down and drink some cold ones. Plenty of parking and plenty of space, too!

I'm gonna aim for a bit before 8 and just hang out so look for my pretty girl Charlotte sitting in the lot and me sitting inside. I was thinking of calling ahead to let them know we'd be there but I dunno if we'll have quite the scale to really crush the place so I think we'll be fine. Hopefully the food truck sticks around... I've had them leave early on me before.

How much are those things normally? I see them from time to time on CL for 300 bucks or so.

    Indeed.

I contacted the shop that initially did the work with my Stage 2 clutch (that Toyota said was put in backwards), he of course denied it and had pictures he took on his phone to "prove" it wasn't put in that way. I can't tell by looking at the pics but I'm going to go to Toyota today to pick up the old clutch parts and take photos of them on my own, send them to the company that makes it and ask what they think. Between $600 for that clutch and $700 for the install, I'd like to get at least that all back...even though I still had to pay Toyota to fix their mistake. At the very least I know for sure they messed up the flywheel by not resurfacing it the way it should have been done. Freakin' headache I tell ya.

Man. I hope you have the time to entertain small claims court. Perfect example of where people need it.
