True story. Ring terminal connectors are always best when you don't need to disconnect often. Spade connectors are best for that application. Why do you leave the factory terminal wiring and connectors though?

Ahhh, ok. Makes sense. I'm not gonna go tinkering with the engineers at Toyotas HQ. Just want the max output the oem alternator will give me. Only reason we're doing the big 3 is because Toyota cut cost on line size. I don't blame them though. Majority of consumer won't be drawing so much power.

Your upgrading your alternator? Going to dual battery set up already?

No a dual battery yet. Just the big 3 mod to pull the capacity listed on the name plate of the alternator. Toyota used a wire gauge for the average consumer to save cost. Our alternators are capable of so much more (safely of course. For the consumer and the vehicles safety), and this can be achieved by upgrading wire.

For what my understanding bigger wire gauge better flow? Sorry new to electrical stuff :D

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Wire that is too thin for a length of run will suffer from voltage drop and when voltage drops you get less current (amperage) down the wire.

Short answer - yes. Except the proper word is current rather than flow. But I'll spare the jargon. Talking with electrical engineers annoys me so I won't do it to you. haha

A good crimp is better than solder. But you need a very specialized crimp. Most cases for us solder works because it doesn't require a special tool.

Crimp, solder to fill the wire and join the crimped terminal solid, heat shrink with glue liner to seal.

I'd do this if I actually cared, but I'll wait until wiring fails the first time to reinvent my wheel.

I actually did that because washboard trails and choppy sand would make my terminals come loose.

Yeah, soon as mine start coming apart I'll do something about it. To date my only "failure" appears to have been spillage or something on one of my switches.

I read some use a hammer and punch to crimp the wire since it's so thick and hard to crimp
