Oh in other news my bedside got a little more character while I was at work. The dent in the middle not the front. Now both sides of my bed are pretty much totaled so that TG tube bed looks better and better.

He's a little to fired up.

I'll have to talk to my mad scientist and see if he has time to start bending me a cheaper one. Like a grand to get the TG kit and fenders.

Does anyone know of a place near Boston/Somerville that will install a lift kit on my taco? I'd rather do the work myself but it's my daily driver and I live in an apartment. :annoyed:

Thanks! I'll give him a call to see about costs. I'm still in the process of figuring out which kit to get and how high I legally can lift it.

I'm pretty flexible with cost. Ideally $1000 - $1200, but more just means I save up longer. I don't do much heavy offroading, so I don't need LT or anything. I just want to be able to run through some mud and a few 4x4 trails.

For that kind of $$$ you should be looking at OME or a Bilstein lift. They are the best for that kind of dough. If you have more money than your options will open up quite a bit but you can have all you need for what you want to spend

I got my lift through Marie at headstrong offroad. http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/ I highly recommend you talk to them. I spent a little over 2k and got this kithttp://www.headstrongoffroad.com/st..._Kit_with_OME_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_(HS05BK-3).html assembled front coil on 4th notch and Camburg Ball joint upper control arms. It has been on since last Friday and it rides better than stock. Do think I need to do the ECGS bushing install though to replace the needle bearing due to a humming sound. Justin and I will be looking into it this weekend.

so my dad moved awhile back and he's in a small cottage sooo I got stuck with all the basement shit in my basement. Throwing shit away and I found these things.

Japanese type 30 bayonet and a hitler youth belt buckle. Now I want to find a type 30 since I Have the bayonet.

Thanks! I was thinking of Bilstien 5100s or similar. I don't need anything fancy, I'm even considering a block in the back rather than an AAL. I'll look into what OME has.

I've heard great things on here about Headstrong Offroad, so I'll look through the site again. It sounds like you do more wheeling than I plan to!

Does anyone have any clue what inspection laws say about lifting? I've seen multiple opinions online. Some say 2" max total lift, others say different.

I wouldn't use a block. The factory springs suck the way it is, a block will just wear them out faster and help introduce things like axle wrap that you may not be experiencing now.

I don't know what the actual laws state, but you'd be hard pressed to find a shop to fail you for a 2" lift. If they do, you need to find a new shop!

I don't wheel much but as for lift there is some sort of calculation for that. You may also want to check out the rancho lift. The socks have dials to adjust the firmness and they come with a rear block. It's around 900 or so.

It's some goofy for formula based on wheelbase. Basically 3" is the answer +2 sizes up on tires(285's)

You know you can do that the way the truck is now, right? :p JK, lifts are fun

I second @mach1man001 on the OME set up, its what I've run for years now and its durable and pretty cost effective too

Stay away from the lift blocks and for the most part the AAL too, depending on the condition of your leaf packs. If their in rough shape ( look like this: :() an AAL is not going to do much in the long run.....I love OEM parts but the Toyota leaf packs suck, and band-aids don't help

If you can swing it, research investing in some new leaf packs....OME Dakars, Alcan, Deaver, All Pro.... there are many to choose from
