You made your own lift or you installed a lift? Installing a lift is easy.

You are about right. Just got a quote 1900 bucks out the door labor and materials. Just have to figure if I'm going 4.56 or 4.88 most people I have talked to at several suppliers suggest 4.88 with this new Tacoma the sixth gear is basically like a double overdrive. Using a tire / gear ratio calculator 4.56 should be fine but they are telling me that doesn't take into effect the extra weight the height of the truck the aerodynamic effect, ect. ect.!

If you're not lifted with bigger tires, there's really no reason to regear. If you install bigger tires like a lot of us have, your truck will be slower off the line and have trouble holding higher speeds unless you regear to the proper ratio to match the larger heavier tires.

    Pretty stock for now
Keeps us posted if you will, I would be very interested in the outcome. Me personally, I was thinking 4.56 with a 33 to 35" tire would be about right. I know on a new Wrangler with 4.88 you need to be running at least a 37"tire.

How much lean is acceptable in the rear? With 5160 shocks and 1.5" 3 leaf aal, im at 38.5" pass side, 37.25" driver side ground to fender. Thinking something isnt right, either right side binding or left side um... broken? When installed it was only .25" difference and that was only like a month or 2 ago... trying to figure out if one drivers side spacer is a bad idea in the rear like i have in the front.

    They don't have a 2nd overdrive though I don't believe.

If you can notice it, it's too much. I see zero lean on my 2016 however I do still have stock shocks and springs.

Ive been thinking about this regear thing a lot lately. 4.56 will be stronger then 4.88 because 4.56 will have more teeth touching.
If 4.56 wil help torque and bring up rpm 2-300 that would be perfect.

1900 bucks for a regear on a Toyota is pretty damn good price. Where do you live? Lol What gears are they going with?
The Toyota guys seem to like Nitro gears the best.

Idk about the oem rear springs, but i know the oem front springs are side specific to account for added weight on drivers side. Lifting exaggerates it, so im not horrified but it does seem off a lot now. The AAL is not side specific (freaking wish they would be!)

Very useless post though, why is it too much? Unlike the front suspension, it can lean a lot without really hurting any driveline angles since the solid axle is always going to follow ground angle side to side

I'm lifted 3" with front spackers everything else stock. 2.5" blocks in the back, everything stock. I have zero lean visually, never measured, but can't see it just looking at it. Did you possibly accidently switch the front driver and passenger coil over assembly?

No im running bilstein coils and struts in the front. Added in .25" spacer to account for drivers side lean on even weight springs. Did a visual check, no obviously broken springs, shocks not leaking and all bolts are still there and tight as i left them. Never removed rear springs to aal, so i know the shackle and frame bolts arent overtorqued and binding (i hope?) Just somewhat lost by how much it "settled" or if i bent something wheeling

    Maybe this did it?Resized_20160814_134052001.jpg

Nah that's very minor off roading. It's not impossible you may have a defective spring? What brand coils did you go with?

I talked to another guy named Drew at JT's. He said they did a truck just like mine but short bed 285 70 17's. And they love it and cruise 80 to 90 mph in Montana with no issues at all with rpms being to high. They also told him mpgs have went up like 4 mpg. These gears are made same place as the Toyota gears. Said with the 6th gear, the 4.88 is the way to go and I won't regret it. Said the truck is under geared from the get go, should have probably been about 4.3 from stock, and rumors are Toyota knows and might be going that direction sooner than later! He said they have done several with the 4.88 and every one has thanked them and love it. Talked with an installer and he told me that Drew really knows his shit! At this point I can't really argue and am now leaning to go with his opinion based on real world experience.

You can get the Nitros right now from just differentials which is out in Washington on the West Coast or from East Coast gear supply which is on the East Coast. The 488 packages are ready to go. 4.56 should be in a couple of weeks. Like I've posted several times everybody is suggesting the 4.88 with these new Tacoma's. They are only ready without the e Locker at this point so if you have a trd sport like I do with the limited slip you can get Gears right now.
