Out of curiosity, why are you looking to replace it?

It's just a piece of paper isn't it? If so I'd imagine it would work.

Can't help with the speedo swap, you got size and a harness that need to match up.

But, you could do what I did and swap out the LEDs since I couldn't stand the orange. It gives it a whole new look.

Here's the link to the LEDs you need, this is the cheapest site I could find for the correct ones. Shipping was quick, had them in 2 days.
    http://lighthouseleds.com/led-compo...e-mount-diodes/leds-plcc-2-1210-3528-smd.html

Do yourself a favor and buy the Curl Tip Tweezers on the same page as the LEDs. They are nice quality will make you life a lot easier when removing and applying the diodes.

Invest in a high wattage soldering iron (not gun), it needs to get hot and stay hot. RadioShack has one and Fry's Electronics has a few, you want 60 watt or higher.

Make sure you set aside a few hours for the project otherwise you'll be driving without a speedo lol. Also don't doubt yourself, it may seem difficult but if you take your time you won't have any issues.

Watch this video, he breaks down disassembly, install, and reassembly.
    https://youtu.be/VyEDHtdHx2M

    Here's some terminology reference:
    (Type)SMD = Surface Mount Diode
(Form) PLCC = Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier
    (Size) 3528 = 3.5mm x 2.8mm

    Quantities:
    Tach - 2 Numbers, 2 Needle
    Speedo - 3 Numbers, 3 Needle
    Gas - 1 Gauge, 1 Needle
    Temp - 1 Gauge, 1 Needle
    Odometer - 3
Turn Signals - 1 or 2 depending on truck year
Gear Selector - 1 Indicator, 1 Back Light (I disabled the back light)

At $.25 a piece, buy some extras so if you screw up or deside you want to change another one of lights.

PM if you want some help you want to see mine in person.

I'll update this post if I think of anything else.

In regards to the original question, does anyone know if the odometer data is stored in the cluster or the PCM?

I thought it was in the cluster.

That was my recollection as well, but I don't think I've ever confirmed that information.

No, its the dash from 12-15.

I believe it is stored in the dash.

In my 07 it's stored on the PCM, I tested it when I was doing the light mod. I would suspect the 08 and any that have the old style gauges would be the same.

Lol are you hinting at something? I'd be more than happy to help you out, not sure if you'd want to be without a dash for a few days though.

maybe I could find one at a wrecking yard or something... but then I wonder if the mileage would be inaccurate... well, looks way cool from where I'm sitting!!

You're an 07, same as me right? Mileage is tracked by the PCM and just output to the Odometer LCD. Let me know if you find one you want done. Gave me an idea to start looking around here for salvage ones.
