See, this is the problem with the internet. One guy who would have never known about said TSB because he has not noticed anything wrong with his truck suddenly thinks they need it becuase they "saw it on the internet". Before the internet if you had an issue you went to the dealership and complained and they usually fixed it. Now a days the dealership is becoming more aware that there is infact an internet and that there are always going to be people who have fabricated the problem according to what the person has read on the internet.

I can see both sides of this. But remember, if it had not been for the internet the OP would have neither wanted, nor needed this TSB because he has not experienced any problems with the truck as is.

the dealerships only screw those who dont do their research or priceshop

    its as simple as that

and youre not boosting the economy by having the TSBs done...Toyota pays the dealership a HIGHLY reduced labor rate to do that work and the time spent on your vehicle at say...$75/hr is time they could have been spending on another vehicle at $125/hr

you want to boost the economy...buy aftermarket springs and pay another mechanic his fair going rate to put them on for you

well, but in the same respect, the internet has made consumers aware of issues that exist, that a stealership may have just said, hey, the parts work fine..i mean, who goes to the stealership with a full load in the back, show the problem, go home unload it, and then back to the stealership, the internet has allowed thousands of consumers to share problems and identify issues that normally may have been a single issue. some tsb's have been or are inthe works of being created thatnks to public forums such as this. if a company makes a solid product, they have nothing to worry about, make or use something substandard, and know they have to deal with it.

I understand that too, I can argue either side of this. It kind of reminds me of the take a penny leave a penny. I was in line and a woman dropped a few pennies into the tray. The guy ahead of me took all of the pennies and said it was justified because it was a public tray. then he walked out. He had no use for the pennies, he just took them because he was entitled to them.

    bottom line is this

i think it was stupid to make an entire thread about what to say to "fabricate" a problem when the symptoms of said problem are out there and widely known if you spend 10-15 min looking around

i also think its stupid and immoral to try to get something that you dont need just because "everyone else has it"

i understand and recognize the fact that the springs on the new truck do not hold as much capacity as you or toyota would like, but some people do not need these, and by getting them anyways, toyota has to make up their profit margin elsewhere, and it also makes it harder for someone with a legitimate problem to get their problem fixed later down the road

Wow I have heard it all now. Are you seriously comparing uninsured motorists to a guy who bought a truck with weak springs? So breaking the law is the same as not getting what you paid for, you really lost me there tigerfan, arent you a cop????

What is fukked up is Toyota sells the public a truck with weak springs year after year because they are chasing the Soccer Mom market and then issue a TSB that can only be obtained within the original 36,000 miles warranty time frame.
What happens to the guy that buys one used with the intentions of actually using a truck just like all the advertising suggests you can and then finds out it can't carry anything even close to the advertised payload without hitting the bumpstops?

    Fuk em
They advertised a truck, sold it as a truck, you payed top dollar for a truck so make them give you what you want

but if they spent the $$$ to test the parts properly in the design of the vehivle, this would not be an issue and no tsb would be needed.. and its not jus ttoyota, had the same problem with mazda...my stainless steel exhaust was rusting within 2 years of having it. the sway bar bushing rotted at least 20 times in the 6 years i had it. they didn't want to spend the $$ for R&D of the parts, so they pay now after the fact...

    its really that simple
