Here's where my issue lies, so right now all they are doing is replacing the diffs, not with updated parts might I add you but the same diff, which in turn causes the same issue for most. So rather than drag my truck in there for a few days for them to say we will replace the diff, then for them to have it a few days to do it, only to have the same issue. Thinking of waiting, but also want to see if I am vocal enough they will do something about it in terms of extended warranty, etc.

Yeah, because a constantly howling diff is pretty unsettling at less than 8k miles, I can only imagine what it will translate to once my 60k powertrain warranty is up. Why should I not ask a company to stand behind their product, especially when there is no real current solution. Shit Ram's diffs don't howl and go 100k at minimum and they are made by Fiat/Chrysler.

On the diff at least, why not they did the same for the frame rot guys, they either got new frames, or under carriage treatment with a warranty.

So everyone should get an extended warranty on everything, or just fix the diff and warranty it for a longer period ? Hmmmmmmm.

Yeah I felt the same. But then the noise got to the point where I said screw it, I didn't buy a 5k beater truck I bought a ~35k (after all was said and done) NEW tacoma. I'll let them replace diffs every few thousand miles if they want. Good, the more differentials they replace the more inspiration they will have to actually fix it. It isn't a light bulb it is one of the most expensive components on the truck.

I live in CA which is very consumer friendly so it is a win win. They either fix it which I hope this new diff fixes it, that would be great, or they keep replacing it and I lemon law the truck. They have already acknowledged it isn't normal and is an issue which is a majority of the battle.

I'm not going to sit there and say "ohh...its ok" for $35,000. If I want a differential that howls I'll go buy a 200k mile ford for < $6k that never had its differential oil changed (and probably leaked most of it) and spend a couple grand having the whole diff rebuilt at a diff shop. It is a struggle. I can sell the Tacoma and get a daily driver AND a second fun truck or jeep for off roading/camping for the price I paid for the Tacoma. I want the Tacoma to be great, I want it to be the "bulletproof" truck with no issues that everyone talks about. I would love to keep it, it is simple, looks nice and performs great off road. I just want the damn thing to not have major issues.

Seriously dude, warranty on the diff or part in question, for some guys that was the transmission before the update. Now you're just being a tool.

You didn't get the vibrating hood option too? I bought the limited so paid extra for that.

OP I sure wish you well in getting your problems resolved. One thing that I would be concerned about and that is resale. When Toyota fixes these problems you can be assured it will be documented to include car fax. When you go to sell people more than likely will pull up car fax and the truck history will be there. OP I would suggest that you try to get Toyota to address these problems and sell the truck back to the dealer or try to get Toyota to back back the truck and move on. Even if Toyota does resolve these problems I would not feel 100 percent confidence wise.

Unfortunately if someone jumps in your truck and the thing howls like a wolf down the freeway that is going to shit all over your resale as well.

Didn't you order a 2017 which have shown to have nearly all the same issues?

Yep and I have had it for one week. No issues THUS FAR. I could be wrong here but i am willing to bet a six pack that the people who are experiencing several problems NOT ONE PROBLEM with their trucks were trucks built sept 2015 to May 2016. That is not to say the 2017 are free of these problems. I am saying though it appears that Toyota has addressed SOME of these problems in trucks built June 2016 and beyond

I have already put 700 miles on mine and so far so good. No steering or brake pedal vibrations. No hood vibrations. No howling sounds. The acceleration and shifting on this truck is pretty good It is not a corvette With that said. I still have a ways to go and only time will tell. If I put 10,000 miles on this truck and experience the problems OP is experiencing then I would be getting Toyota and the dealer to fix them but once and if they can be fixed I would be selling it back to the dealer. At that point I have lost confidence in the truck

Like every hood in every taco is vibrating because of the one bad batch of glue earlier this year, being shipped in all units as of today
Or the tsb that has been not been updated - still.
Or the holes that need to be plugged that take 12 man hours.
Or the zerks that continue to be dry and trans fluid that is low in all units shipped til today.

    Really ?
    Nice try though.

If you lock it on 4th or 5th or 6th at 2100 RPM you get zero vibration in the steering wheel? I would be completely surprised.

I have a 17 DCSB OR no problems thus far but I also only have 560 miles on the clock but I plan on keeping everyone posted. So far truck runs good shifts how it should and holds its speed with the cruise on and no howling.
