I've never had to replace mine but I've heard that the OEM ones are the best to go with.

I also tore a boot, still don't have the diff drop in . I got sdhq boots sitting in my garage but I've heard doing the axle is easier so I might just get a new axle and reboot the old one later. A couple people Ive read have gone months without replacing it as long as dirt doesn't get in there... Idk how true it is but I've been driving for around 2 weeks with it split wide open.

 

Ah ok, misunderstood what you were looking for. I would start with Craigslist and even here on the buy/sell/trade section as people typically upgrade. Buying a new OEM bumper from a Toyota site might get pricey but you can try camelback Toyota, rockauto, and others.

 

Makes me feel better about driving home, I'm almost off the dirt so hope it stays clean...

 

Mmmhmm...love me some rust bustin!! Though I gotta say, I know that gas tank skid price hurt your wallet good. I could never pull the trigger on a new OEM one, mine literally fell off couple years ago ( with tank soon to follow ) and I refused to drop the $$$, finally found used one on ebay couple weeks ago for less than half and thankfully it was from FL with no rust, but searched for years. What rust proofing are you having sprayed on? I coated the fuel tank and skid in POR-15 top coat followed by POR-15 rubberized undercoating, multiple coats of each. Still never replaced the strap...need to think bout that soon

 

Yeah deer strikes are common in the common wealth. Stock will not endure one very well. Just a lil protection. Thanks though TA...

I found rebuilt OEM's at the part store with life time warrantee waaaaay cheaper then new and the folks here say the OEM is the best way to go even rebuilt.

 

I called a dealer nearby and they wanted $250 for a reman axle, seemed pretty expensive, how much were those?

 

Why would I need to replace the whole axle??? It's just a boot.

 

ive been having good luck with my Napa cvs, lifetime warrantee. Plus there's a Napa in Moab. So that's a plus if you like Moab and breaking stuff.

 

You don't have to, but it's just easier if you do the work yourself, you can find a set of used axles for around $150 sometimes, then you just reboot the old one when you get the time and keep it as a spare

 

It's way easier. Those boots are messy.. Lol

 

I was just gonna have a shop do it.... I don't have the time with school and well bow hunt.... Priorities..

 

In that case it probably won't cost much to just have them reboot it, I couldn't give you a figure though

 

Find out tomorrow, I have a boot on the way so it should be all good after that, kinda weird that it tore.... Been on way rougher stuff. One sharp turn and it was gone I guess...

How much Toyota coolant did the job require?

 

I don't have a very big like in the front, like maybe an inch, I think, I don't know what the stock measurement is. If my truck would quit breaking id buy ucas and a diff drop... Dang race trucks
