Not disagreeing with you, just saying the shop doing the inspection may fail it based on that. For jurisdictions with safety inspections of course.

    all tore up already
the catalytic converters on this truck are where manifolds would normally be... why replace the y pipe or even the mid pipe for that matter? trucks kinda limited in exhaust flow by the integrated manifolds, i dont see much to be gained replacing y pipe. maybe if you ported and polished the heads and removed the cats

I couldn't care less one way or the other.
OP asked why the cost was so much more. I offered a possibility.

I noticed on the Toyota web site that the torque and HP ratings is exactly the same for the TRD Pro as it is for all of the other Tacoma models. I guess Toyota is just a little bit too lazy to run the dyno numbers themselves even though they make claims of an increase in both numbers. No one has been able to justify the incredible increase in price yet. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

I have been waiting for this since I bought my truck. But I'll wait a little bit longer until some dealerships sell them online for a discount.

If it came out a few days ago, the few who did order it probably have not gotten it yet.

That or the exhaust system makes 0 gains to peak power and torque when tested per SAE standards. ;)

As for the price increase, it's to go along with the $400 grille and $500 skid plate - just a cash grab. We haven't seen the prices of interior bits yet, right? Wonder what the TRD-logo headrests and shift knob cost? It also makes the Pro seem like a good deal when you buy all these accessories in a "bundle".

What exactly are you looking for someone to help you with?

That's the price, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

The trdusa web site has lowered its price by $150 from $849 to $699. They are now much closer to the competition and make it more tempting. I am still curious why they are around $200 more than the gen2 trd cat back systems. They seem to have the same product descriptions. Maybe someone has more information on their differences.

All I see are pictures of the exhaust and ridiculously overpriced v6 TRD Pros.

I want this exhaust. When is it hitting the shelves ?!?!

Isn't the TRD exhaust a rebadged Borla?

I called my Toyota dealer today and was told they are on national back order and to try back in a few weeks.
