Apple Car Play & Entune, Let do this.

would be most excellent if someone figured out the interface layer to get Android Auto (and Car play) integration to work. I have Android Auto in another vehicle, and the entune nav is really bad when compared to Google Maps.

I don't have a lot of hope for a successful outcome but I'd definitely be all over this. I have years of experience with jailbroken iOS devices and would definitely beta test. The guys on the Harley forums tried to hack the Harley box, which apparently also runs on QNX, with no success.

 

For what it's worth, the Entune system is pretty widely used in many Toyotas... we don't have to limit ourselves to Tacoma users only. Perhaps other Toyota forums can be a resource.

 

I know this is not the same as what the ultimate goal is for this tread but I think close to. Downside is it not being wireless.

I am waiting until I get my truck to try to do something. Right now it's just research. I have found very very little. Need to be able to figure out how to boot the thing to a, well, essentially the raw OS. And I may have to take it apart to figure that out. May just buy a scrapped one for experimentation.

why not just mirror you iPhone on the display. Apple play isn't much other than that

 

Mirroring is just a very expensive way to render the touch screen useless.

 

Because the touch screen doesn't work on the radio.

 

Just for the phone apps. Plus you can access all your apps on your phone unlike Apple Play which is limited.

 

But if I still need to use my phone then I could care less about mirroring.

Entune just needs to get waze and Spotify and I won't replace the deck.

 

Man, if they got Waze I would be set!

 

Hell we don't have to worry about ppl looking at their damn phones anymore. Now we have to worry about them not paying attention to what the hell they are doing on the road because they are fucking with the head units while driving. Just pair the phone set the destination on the phone and drive. I does give voice directions or do you really need pictures.
