Toyota care will only tow to the nearest dealer....

Inanity... Doing the same thing and expecting different results. You've spent over 1k out of pocket already for a rental and don't want to spend $50 to tow it to a better shop.... Your at the point where you should be suing to recoup losses anyways.

 

I bet they told you not to wash the loaner.

Making a video may not be a bad idea. We had added a new Express Passenger Chev. Van to our white fleet. It didn't happen all the time but on occasion on startup it would bellow smoke, bad. Took it to our dealer under warranty and they couldn't duplicate the problem. Three separate times our dealer couldn't find the problem. Made a video of the driver engulfed in smoke & posted on YouTube. Sent the service manager a link & they agreed there was indeed a problem. Told me to take down the video & they would take care of it, which they did in record time. Turned out to be an EGR issue. Case closed.

 

Yes, and for problems like this... you can get "action cameras" that make good video for under $40 on Amazon, and dash cams in the same price range. Video evidence is great to have, and the video evidence of a repeated problem that Toyota wont fix getting tons of hits on Youtube will only help Toyota's urge to fix the problem instead of ignoring you.

One camera on the instrument panel, and one outside watching you wash it... case closed. Since they'll probably screw you over again and you'll have to do that for results.

Taking it back to the original dealer just gets the same eyes reading the past history and looking at a problem from the old perspective of sand in the tank... that they could've put there to save face after the "evaporated sand" claim was BS.

 

Everyone has valid points, as a Nurse I like continuity of care, so I figured I'd go the route of "hey you guys seems this before. Look at it and tell me something different. "

Right now it's a different technition and a completely different manager, so MAYBE something will change, I have a rental from them, not out of pocket this time so we are already better off.


But, once again, you all aren't wrong haha. And yes, I chose to use Toyota care so they do it for free, and the dealer is within 10 minutes drive of my house. Trying to keep.ot simple lol

Pfffff I welcome the challenge. Like I said, I went to Pismo and other places and used my own power washer to clean the truck and I definitely sprayed shit alot harder than any car wash will do lol.

Well. Still no further updates with the holiday weekend and everything. Luckily I've worked 14hr shifts the entire weekend so I haven't been focusing on the fact that I am paying 500 a month payments to drive a loaner 2015 sport with 18k miles. Lol.

I am mildly concerned that they will try and push me back to insurance, which I will not allow. I have not called corporate yet, as they will tell me they need to wait for the dealer's diagnosis before forming a case... It's like I've done this before... Lol.

For the record, the 2015 creaks and squeaks over every little bump in the road, and sounds like it has chains jangling together. But the engine is oh so nice lol. Toyota should of updated and turbod the 4.0 to meet EPA, and we'd have one hell of a truck.

 

Puh, that stock 2015 doesn't know shit about making noise. Let me pull next to you and go over some light bumps in the road
