I'll probably be ordering a few from TheRetrofitSource through my retrofitter. I have this crazy custom roof rack and 360 degree lighting concept running through my brain right now.......
But it'll change in a week when I'm oversea's and staring at H1's and Strykers...

 

Thinking about ordering relentless fab roof light bar brackets and ditch light brackets today. Anyone try those before?

 

I bought the eyourlife ones. $17, good ratings, can't go wrong Plus, I order everything through Amazon Smile, so I keep using the excuse to my wife 'but I'm supporting the Wounded Warrior Project'.

I checked out Superbright LEDs, they were a lot more expensive, even with the coupon. These will literally get used probably 10 times a year max and really only be needed 3-4 times a year during fall camping when I'm trying to back into a site when it's dark out. I needed something cheap.

Is the bar I'll be going with, lower profile so I can keep the drag down (engineering mindset) and a bit more affordable than the Rigid one I quickly peered and ran away from.

 

Me and my wife always fight over which version of smile to use. I like the Comm2A one and she likes the villa lobos pitbull rescue one.

 

That's a good looking bar and a nice price also. LED lighting has really come down in price recently, I can't believe you can get a 50" bar for under $300 now! I actually have a 30" bar sitting in my basement, I figured that would be a little 'excessive' to mount to the back of the camper as a backup light. Not to mention if there is a site adjacent to where I'm backing in, I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate that much light while ruining their campfire while I position my camper. I didn't want to be 'that guy'.

 

I see no problem here.. you're just making sure you don't run them over.....

 

I'll find another home for the 30" bar at some point. Not sure where... I still have another set of Rigids to mount on the Ferd, then the truck lighting will be 'done'. The 30" bar just isn't worth selling, I'd get back like 25% of what I paid for it, so it'll sit on the shelf until I can find something creative to do with it.

 

Dumb question.. are ditch lights supposed to be flood or spots?

 

Depends on how far ahead you want to see. If it's for high speed runs, you'd want spots because they'll be a narrow, focused beam that projects out. If it's for slow speed crawling where you just want to see what you're going to run over immediately, then you'll want flood because it'll be a short, wide beam.

 

Does your camper have a set of reverse lights already?

 

So, I'm probably hitting my rocker panels with Monstaliner tomorrow, and I'm thinking about how high to take it. Part of me says stop at the door sill, and part of me says take it to the height of the back bumper. Quick photoshop below for ideas. What do you think?

 

Definitely different - black and blue didn't work out too well for me. I painted my grill black and now I feel like a stock F150 basemodel......

 

I think it'll look pretty slick. Maybe do something to the front bumper as well to maybe "even" it out?!?!

Hm. I was going to suggest just swapping the bulb out for a higher-output LED, but scratch that one, haha!

 

I need to buy a full size 4door truck . Packing up a Honda Accord to go camping is retarded.

 

"ditch lights" are supposed to be for lighting up the ditch next to your truck. You should get flood lamps

Make them point down to the ditch like this

I've thought about doing this myself. I like it where you PS it in. Make sure to do the fenders too though. I just saw one like that in Maine last week. Ex below (don't me. I know the picture is of a Dodge)
