Two things I am looking at helping my Taco with: Power at altitude, and hot weather driving.

Obviously increased elevation means thinner air, which means less power. I know y'all have felt it when going over the mountains. So other than the obvious forced induction, what are some other effective ways to increase power at altitude?

When it come do hot weather/ sand dune driving, what are some major concerns? Engine overheat? Oil pressure? What do you guys think?

I have had my eye on a CryO2 system for a while and was wondering if anyone had experience with it? They have an air cooling and a fuel chilling system available.

Today I went to the dealer for an oil change and asked for the Trans flash. After a little push back from the service writer I said look it up, it exists and sure enough he had to eat his words. Just on the ride home the tranny seemed a lot more responsive especially on non highway roads. On the highway she was no longer gear hunting but on the side roads is where I felt the truck was leaps and bounds better. Had the tranny behaved like mine does now out of the gate there would be a lot less bitch threads on the third gen. lol

Pretty minor mod. Swapped in a chrome amber bulb for the turn signals. Gets rid of that egg yolk look in the housing. I forgot to take a pic before, but im sure we all know what the before looks like.

What is it with "know-it-all" service writers? The one that tried to belittle me because I get information from a forum 6 months ago was dead wrong. I haven't even gotten the satisfaction of giving him the "I was right" face. But my complaint was obviously heard by him. Now, he sees me walk in and turns around or won't look me in the eye. He was extremely rude and my complaint to Toyota about the dealership and the email to the general manager of the lot was all it took to get some apologies. They actually called me out of the blue to follow-up with my problem and invited me in to get the TSB service. What's funny, the service writer who started to check me in started to act like I didn't know what I was talking about and the nearby supervisor quickly interrupted him and stepped in front of him to tell me they will get it handled right away. It was almost one of those mic drop "yeah B****!" moments. Although when I leave I am probably known as that "asshole in the white Tacoma"

I would be careful, don't want to let an organization who hates you take care of your truck

Put my grill from customcargrills together last night, and caught a break during the hurricane to mount it back on the truck!

That's too funny and I am probably referred to the same way except with the orange Tacoma. He pushed back on changing my oil too and said they only do tire rotation at 5,000 miles and Toyota only covers changing the oil at 10,000. I quickly replied back, I don't care, change the oil. He was like you will have to pay for it. I than replied with, the decal on the windshield says first oil change is free. He said I will just write it up as your 10,000 mile service. I than replied with, I don't care whatever works. The dealership gave me free oil changes to take over after the Toyota Care ones expire so it's moot. I also told him not to have them rotate the tires since I just put new rubber on the truck last week and there was no need. I know he at least refers to me as a pain in the ass by his comments while he was checking me out afterwards. He said, "the code on your receipt is for our car wash, I didn't want to just run it thru since you seem very particular about your truck." I laughed and said "Good choice because if it has brushes there is no way I want my truck running thru it." lol The dealer I used to go to for service had a note on my account to not run my vehicles thru the wash. I will have to do the same with this one as well. Sadly, I have to return next week to get the hood paint protection vinyl replaced since the got a huge chunk of dirt under it at the port when installing it.

Putting a 1" spacer on the front to level off Monday, ordered a Extang Solid Fold 2.0 this morning, and for celebrating the return of college football, I washed her. Geaux Tigers!

Everyone has their own opinions, but I think the chrome badges and grill accents look fantastic on the Barcelona Red.

On other colors I love the all black look, but the very little chrome just sings to me on this truck.

This is true. I honestly think the only one that hates me is that service writer. Or he just hates being wrong and by looking at me it will be an admission.

That's funny you say that about the car wash. I take my truck to a dealership who doesn't give free washes. The lot I bought it from keeps calling me to use them and that is their attempt at a selling point. Every time I say I don't use car washes unless it's touch free and even then I am leery. But I follow up with, if you want to have a guy wash it by hand I'll come by today!

I sit in 95f air temp on roads that must be well over 140f between cars in traffic jams down here and the truck handles it perfectly fine. They get taken to deserts for hot weather testing and they change the cooling set up depending on how it handles. You don't need to worry about hot weather.

Can't comment on altitude, not much you can do other than supercharge/turbo it, maybe a ram air system from the scoop but don't expect any gains

@VangaSTL I didn't either but I said what the he** put em on lol. The front does rub the UCA's at full turn but not as bad and no trimming needed. I'm going to get wheel spacers just to clear the UCA's. Love them.
