One of the reasons I bought a Tacoma instead of a GM or other brand...

Yeah that would scare the beejeebies out of me. One of the reasons why i ended up selling it, as I was always paranoid about something going wrong. They are pretty reliable though, and pretty basic (For BMW standard) to work on. Still can't believe they were able to squeeze that amount of power out of the engine.

They do, but I think next year is when they officially get reabsorbed back into Toyota. Our Toyota dealerships still have Scions and designated lots/offices for them

They said 2017 models will be rebranded as Toyota then it's good buy to scion. The Toyota dealership in Carson already said bye to the scion department

Makes sense that's it's probably being phased out by location rather than all at once. I was surprised to see that they aren't keeping the tC around when it happens, that was one of the best sellers. But it's pretty much a Camry anyway, lol.

It used the Camry motor and was closer in size to the Camry. I had an '06 tC and a 2012 one before my Taco.

That is true, the 2 door sport Camry. And the newish FRS might be branded to what they call it in Japan, witch is the GT86, the son of the legendary AE86

Yeah I didn't like thinking about it having the Camry motor but that thing actually scooted along quite well, all things considered. With the manual trans anyhow. Was a good car, put 150k on the first one when I traded it in and got $6500 for it. Traded the 2012 one in with 60k miles on it for my current '04 Tacoma with 30k miles :D Oddly though, they only offered me $7,800 on the 2012 tC.

True, I traded it in earlier this year back in March.

So if I can get a Canyon for at last $3300 less than a Tacoma, I'm good? :hattip:

Had a Saturn throw a rod at 85k miles. Have a 2002 4Runner with 170k miles and have done a couple batteries, o2 sensor, and valve cover gasket. Daughter had an 02 Camry that finally was done at 240k miles.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the Taco... :boink:

Yup totally right on that one. e36 definitely has the proven reliability factor. My buddy had one in college, and he let me drive a few times. Back then, I thought it was Ferrari fast. Then I got my e46 and realized the e36 was a horse-drawn wagon compared to the e46. lol. Both are great cars, and I think the I6 BMW was putting into their cars back then is one of the best engines ever produced. Just a great package of an engine.

tC was basically the discontinued Toyota Celica, fun little cars. I have a manual 2008 xB with the Camry motor and it is a blast to drive. 140k still going strong, very few problems.

The headlight on our Audi A8L was $800 to replace. The brakes on our BMW X5 were $800 a corner! Ridiculous. My Hyundai Elantra GT has been the cheapest car in our fleet to run. Really looking forward to getting my Taco... whenever I actually get it. Sigh.
