Why do you need a compressor?

I got my second side done today. Twas a bitch, but it's all done!! Pinch weld was the easiest part for me. Those weird ass clips take some finesse, but once you get them out just pull the fender liner out of the way and smack the shit out of the weld.

Yeah, pinch welds were easy, especually using all that pent up anger and a BFH.

Got it done, remolded the liner a bit, anly had a slight plastic rub at full lock backing out of the drive.

One helpful thing with the liner. Down at the bottom of the metal wheel well, there is a gold on each side on the inside of the pinch weld. I just took one of the mudflap screws and forced it trough the liner into that hole. It secures the bottom tight hen just heat and mold the rest. I need to get the 885's and top spacers on. Twke it in and get alignement checked and see if I need the LR UCA's.

You can use the weight of the truck to uncompress and compress your 885s instead of going to the shop.

I've watched a video on it and looks simple enough, but Murphy's Law loves me.

A friend has a spring compressor on his wall at home, but he is out of town this weekend.

It's a long weekend, who knows maybe I'll get froggy and jump? Kind of wish I could have done it all at once today, might have saved me cutting my fenders and flares.

Now have to go down the road a ways and scan my sensors and reflash them into the ECU.

FWIW I choose the truck method over a spring compressor any day. Unless its one of those industrial beef ones. Good luck either way!

If you were wondering about my rubbing issues being so bad I already know the answer and it about kept me from installing them.

I put 884's on my truck, they didn't install the longer studs in the coilovers so I couldn't do the top plate spacer.

When I put the lift on, I also put in AP UCA's. Wasn't really needed and bit memin the ass. They gave me 4 degrees of caster at the top of the tire, which pushed the tire back that much further. The rims I put on are 8.5" with 4.5" backspace, so the wheels stick out 2.2" firther, plus whatever wodth the tires added to that and my steering arc was altered pretty significant. The caster only magnified and compounded the situation. Then I put on a steel plate bumper.....

I simply need to go higher, I have no doubt on that.

Been awhile since I watched the vid. Simple jack stand under the frame and jack under the LCA? Does everything line back up pretty easily when reinstalling? I would likely be doing it solo if I attempted it.

that sucks i had 17x9 4.5bs wheels on mine it really must be the combination of the bumper and high caster numbers.

Yes. Pull it out and keep everything lined up, slide off old coil, slide on new one and reinstall. It's fairly easy and since you already need an alignment it doesn't matter that you're loosening the cam bolts to help with the process.

Yeah, I was happy with 4 degrees caster, I had always read more gives better clearance from the cab mount. Wasn't until after I ordered the 285's that I read more at the top(UCA) is bad, whereas more at the bottom is good.

I have some LR UCA's that I picked up this morning if I need to go that route. Just hate that I cut my fenders. Should have put the stocks back on.

a friend who is much more knowlegable about these trucks is convincing me of the merritts of the 255's and relly doesn't care for the width and offset of the wheels i have now hence their removal supposedly puts too much load on the bearings but i sure as hell like the looks of them sticking out
