Is the $36,500 the selling price or the OTD price?

I live in the GST region, and I'm in the market for a 4dr Tacoma TRD Off-Road, I went to the dealership after getting pre approved and talking to my insurance agent. I was sure I would drive out with a new Tacoma this past Saturday to the point that I had my wife drop me off and had her drive back home.
… After test driving several trucks and choosing the truck of my choice the salesman and I went in to negotiate and fill out paperwork. I had already done my homework on figuring the invoice price vs the MSRP price… my figures were of by -$112 after adding options and
Delivery, Processing, and Handling (DPH) fees. The problem is I see an additional fee for $1079 for Toyota marketing fees.
Is everybody paying the Toyota Marketing fees or is there room to negotiate the fee?

    This is the vehicle.
    2017 / 7568 a MSRP $35,315 Before optional equipment and distributor options.
Taco TRD OR DBL Cab Long Bed
    $2333 Premium & Technology
    $650 Tow Packge
    $995 Delivery Processing Fee
    $259 Cargo light
$79 Ball mount ( i have 3 of these at home)
    $205 Premium Carpet mat set
    $609 Shark running boards.
    MSRP $40,442 after dealer options
I was was calculating invoice around $37,500(+) ( I left all my paperwork at my in-laws and can get exact numbers from the dealer.) but the Toyota Marketing fees were pushing the price in the area of $38,500 (+).
I am trying to get the best deal but if I can't lower the price or get them to drop the Toyota Marketing Fees I'm just going to get a build with-out the Premium and Technology package and pay around $36,500 (+/- $300) before TT&L.

so they are doing invoice plus 1000 for marketing...., you can offer 500 over invoice or tell them no thanks
, i would start at 200-250, is normally what they will take.....remember they are getting holdback of 2% of base msrp and 1% of base mrsp for finance holdback.....that means at invoice they are making plus or minus $1059

I just did the math and it looks like the invoice price for that truck is $35,888. Don't know why he is saying it's $37,125.

The invoice price you looked up was for 2016. Also, I believe in OR they charge about $650 TDA fee, so you have to add an addition $650 to invoice price. The $37625 looks like the right number for a 2017 with $500 above invoice (and TDA).

TDA is a certain percentage of the msrp price set by the regional distributor for all vehicle sold.

You're right. If I include ~$650 for 2017 base invoice and another $650 for TDA it puts me right at the number he provided.

That is a great price based on what I'm getting here in Texas.
I talked to a dealer and he gave me a price. He said it was invoice but I call BS on the invoice price what do you say?
    This is the break down.
    dealer / msrp
    mfg base price 31,112 / $34,705
    t' factory options 559 / 650
    t' locallay installed 530 / 639
    dealer added options 0 / 0
    T.A.F 0 / 0
    T.M.F 1058 / 0
    deliv/processing/handling 995 / 995
    base vehicle holdback 707 / 0
    PIO holdback 68 / 0
    fleet price protections 0 / 0
    financial reserve MSRP 354 / 0
    fleet credit 0 / 0

    pricing totals $35,384.01 / $36,989

The invoice have so many zeros on that it makes it seem like the dealer makes up these numbers.
The dealer also stated that he would be giving me an added $400 mark down.
I was told that Out The Door price would be around $37,500 give or take a couple hundred dollars.

Mind you the previous poster's price has more options than this one…. this one only has the tow package and the predator tube steps.

This is my first post on the Tacoma World site and I am glad to report that I just put a deposit down on my first Tacoma! The information on this site has been most helpful in making a decision on which truck to purchase. I live in Virginia and sent an email to just about every Toyota sales manager I could find (17 Total) asking them to send me their best deal on the truck I wanted. I finally received a response that I was happy with and drove to the dealership today to lock in the deal. Here is what I got…

2017 TRD Off Road Double Cab

    Quicksand Color

    Premium and Tech package

    Tow Package

    Tonneau Cover

    Bed Mat

Four Season mats and sill protectors

Out the door price with taxes, tags, processing fees, etc was $36,956. I am active duty military so the $1k discount helped a little. I am very excited about my first Tacoma and thanks to everyone who contributes to make this a great site!
