Oh and if the Ranger outsells the Tacoma it won't make either truck better or worse. People will just vote for their dollars for their perception of the truck at it's price point. Lots will still buy Tacoma's and not just because they are fanboys. There will likely be situations where the Tacoma is flat out better, just like what is going on now.

From what I've heard the Ranger will get the 2.3 L Ecoboost that goes in the Explorer. Yes, that's less capable than the F150 2.7 L or 3.5 L but it's plenty compared to anything else out there at 280 hp (209 kW; 284 PS) @ 5600 rpm, 310 lb·ft (420 N·m) @ 3000 rpm. That will smoke the pants off of GM and Toyota's offerings for MPG and power down low.

Saw a new Ridgeline driving through my neighborhood the other day. If you thought they couldn't get any uglier...you were mistaken ;)

I saw a new RL at the grocery store parking lot. Not so bad for what it is.
Noted. the "dislike" for the 3G Tacoma front grill has died off. Where are all the well that is "ugly" posters gone. Either they kept the 2G or they purchased a 3G and live with it.

Those would be good specs for sure. I am guessing they will also use aluminum body panels to make the Ranger quite lighter than the Tacoma. Mid-size market is exploding. Ford is wise to jump in.

I wanted to chime in here and say that all auto makers are seeing dips in sales (based on their projections--all but Chrysler missed the mark). There are macro economic forces at work here beyond whether or not you think the Tacoma is better than the X.

Expect better incentives over the next couple of months. Especially if the fed raises interest rates. $40k vehicles become much less affordable when you start paying 6% interest.

And these manufacturers have room to move on price. Their profit margins are higher than they been in a while which is why you haven't seen very aggressive incentives yet. They are balancing making sales vs making bank. Eventually they'll have to start moving inventory.

No idea on the aluminum. I haven't heard anything from my source about that. Ford does have the experience to go there if they wanted but they might not just to save cost.

So we can apply that stupid logic to the Silverado and Tundra whose sales even fell more ?
Sounds like you are just trying to spin something the way you want again.

The domestics aren't even seeing close to the amount of issues the third gen Tacoma is having. I am a Toyota guy, and it sucks to see this, but why pretend it's not happening because I own a Toyota?

I would think a remodel of a truck (i.e. the 3rd gen) would have higher sales just because of the excitement/hype of it being a new model. Look at the Ridgeline, it's up 86,000% from last year :D

Those are not direct competition, Frontier, Colorado, and Canyon all increased from this time last year unless I read the chart wrong.

new model does not equal excitement. I personally don't think they did enough ... and I have no idea what "enough" would have been ;) I still like the Gen2 better overall....except the tailgate

My 3rd gen pulls more and better, moves out faster, and looks better in and out.
It trumps the 2nd gen easily.
    I have a 2014 2nd gen , a 2016 Taco and a new Tundra Pro for comparison.
Puled 5000 pound loads with all 3 to test.
    Been there done that.

All personal opinions both ways. Looks are subjective and many people including several reviewers would disagree on towing and quarter mile times between the 2nd and 3rd Gen. Some have even documented on video the 2nd gen out running a 3rd Gen no problem of the same trim line (TFL truck).

Long and short... Yeah there is some hate on for the 3rd Gen. It wasn't universally accepted by any crowd, fanboy or not, and that pretty much is what it is.

Not if you have the manual. blows the second gen away. Exterior look sure. Debatable on looks. Interior. I'm sorry but no way. Not even comparable. Unless you like ancient.:kona:

Yeah that video run I believe you are referencing was for 80 feet just when the 3rd gen was revving into the 300hp range, biased video.
My 3rd gen tows better than my 2nd did. 2nd bucked more so than 3rd did with same trailer.
Looks of old are ancient as others have said. The proof is in the pricing.

Actually 1/4 mile times are almost the same, and if I was interested in that I would buy a sports car.

But you just siad... LOL nm, we are in the third gen thread.

As for towing I have no idea why people would buy a Tacoma for a 5000 pound trailer. I mean I get it if you already have the truck and need a trailer but still, all you need to do is watch one towing video with either truck on hilly terrain to realize it's too small for that.

Sorry, I surrender to your third gen awesomeness. Everyone who defies you is wrong... or it could all just be personal opinion lol. You know, like I said.

BTW my Supercharger would blow your truck out of the water... if I didn't have 33's and a pile of armor. Again, because I bought a Tacoma for what I thought the Tacoma really does clearly do well, which is wheel. Everything else it's just hohum at, which is fine and in no way an insult to those who own it for those things.
