i have a 2006 Tacoma v6 4.0L. I just replace the battery thinking it was time for a new one. but that didn't solve the problem. The battery symbol only flicking when the truck is not in motion. Has anyone had this same issue? and any solution for it?

    It's probably your voltage regulator.

How is your idle, about 700 RPM? If that is good I will agree with timothom and guess that your voltage regulator/ alternator need to be replaced.

Check the voltage at the battery with the engine idling. It should read around 13 to 14 volts if the alternator /regulator is working properly.

Note: The voltage regulator is built in to the alternator.

    Same as everybody else...
Maybe the belt is loose or slipping?

Here where I live most of our better auto parts stores will hook up their diagnostic equipment and tell you exactly what the problem is with no charge.

The alternator (voltage regulator), battery, and grounds need to be tested. As said, my first instinct would be alternator, but you should check the battery (load test) first and foremost especially if it's been in there a while.

My guess is alternator and/or bad/loose/crusty terminals.

He has just replaced the battery thinking it was the cause....

Loose belt - doubtful as it isn't squealing.
    Defective alternator - very possible.
    Loose connection - maybe.

My bad, just woke up. Didn't catch that.

So, yeah... Alternator and check all your grounds.

Oh, ok. Like they said, be sure your voltage is never dropping below 13 volts when the engine is running.

Also, some auto parts stores can check your alternator for you if you take it off and bring it in.

Since when you have more RPMs you don't have a problem, and your idling you do, the problem is very likely the alternator. It's the device on your engine belt train that charges your electrical system when the engine is running. I believe the part number is different if your truck has the tow package.

Thanks guy for your help it was Alternator. Weird that it only last me one year, but in the other hand AutoZone gave me a new one for free under warranty. I hope this one doesn't fail on me in a year.

You only get one under warranty... so next time, get OEM. That way you won't have to worry about it
