Yeah. Couldn't get the nut to turn. Didn't want to round out the shock either. That's what makes me think it's a bushing as its tight, can't loosen or tighten it. Plus the threads showing from side to side or very similar.

    thanks

Are you sure you have the bushing on the inside of the top hat? And I have more threads showing than you on mine so you might have more room to tighten it down. This is weird and I'm interested to see what the issue ends up being...

From the pictures I have been seeing online there should be more threads as you mentioned. I believe they came pre assembled from toyotech but will have to double check with the shop. Been driving on it for two years and the other side is tight. Bringing it in to the shop tomorrow. If the driver side is indeed assembled wrong I will ask them to check the passenger. I'm not disassembling shocks with 886 coils.

A little of this and a little of that.

    Thank you.
I installed the whole Dakar leaf pack. I gained 3 3/4" lift in the rear! I hope that it settles, and I'll re-measure after driving 100 miles.

Went to the shop and everything is back together. Bushing were all out of whack and essentially shit wasn't tight. Hmm. Picture of it all back nice and tight. As you can see there just wasn't enough threads showing before. Now it's how it should. They had to take everything apart adjust and put it back together.

What's the difference between a 2887 and a 2885? I'm looking to install this kit on my 05 double can. I don't have any extra weight. Just looking for 3" of lift. And what size spacer would I need? Thanks.

Difference is spring length... Spring rate is the same, just 5 mm different in length. Roughly 2.5" with 885s and 3" with 887s.

Oh and the Dakar leaf pack should be a 3" lift as well?

Give or take... Think I was a little under 3" with dakars, but I'm running an ARE camper top

Thanks you so much for the info. Probably going to go with the 885 with a spacer just incase it rides too high in the front, then I could remove it. Also going with the bilstiens to avoid the dreaded click/thunk lots have reported having.

If your getting the dakars and have a cap or run with tools or what not, get the extra leaf. Really happy with mine. Especially if you want some rake in the back end.

Thanks for the heads up. I ended up selling my cap so it's just a short bed whit no added weight. this forum has been a life saver. I'm so glad I found this place.:D

No worries. It's nice that others help others with the knowledge they have learned. Not only is it helpful but generally it can save some people money and time.

With out the cap and a short bed you'll be happy with the setup. Look forward to seeing some pre/post lift pics.

Alright folks, I'm starting to get frustrated with my future suspension choice.
I am looking to lift my truck, however I am also putting a front and rear SOS bumper on at the same time. It looks like the front bumper weighs around 110 and the rear around 90. There is potential to possibly put a winch on someday but not unless I really up my current non existent off-roading

People seem to be suggesting the following and to talk to headstrong and toytec. Yet the salespeople at both places don't recommend that setup.
    -Bilstein 5100s front and rear
    -OME 886 coils
    -OME Dakar rear leaf pack

They recommend running a pure OME kit or one of their own kits instead. One company says it's because they won't warranty the bilstein's, and the other just says it isn't a good set up. I don't want to buy something that isn't going to last. Are these guys just trying to upsell me?

if you can afford it, i highly reccomend a longer shock out back with extended brake lines to use 100% of the packs droop travel, and to not use your rear shocks as limit straps. the fronts will be fine with either shock option, although consensus seems to be that the 5100's are better matched to the spring rate of the OME springs up front.
