Your probably right about the Raptor, but really have always loved my Toyota's including the two 4 Runners, the 06 Tundra and the 08 Rav 4 my wife drove! This is my 8th new Tacoma since 88 and I just figured I would love it and reading these forums got me so pumped on mods, that I went hog wild! Turning 50 last year and always wanting to be able to do something like this might have been part of it. Lol! I bought it at invoice plus tax so around $38,500, with all the mods and accessories I am well over $50,000. In the end you only live once and if I love the way it drives after this it will be worth it!20160603_204731.jpg

Just wondering, are you still running the oem dark alloy sr wheels? I see you are running 285 tires w/wo spacers any rubbing at all? I have the off road, I went with the sr dark alloys instead of the sema wheels like so many are doing. I have 5100's front w/885 ome and 1" block in rear just debating on either 285 or 265 x75/16 with dura tracs.

Yessir. 285/75 on the stock SR wheels with a 1.25" SpiderTrax wheel spacer. 3" front, 2.5" rear. No rubbing, no trimming, no nothing. I did trim a couple inches off the front lip just because I HATE it and I plan to trim it more. Only leaving it so the front of the frame is not exposed. I'll more than likely trim it so it's only about 1.5" or so. I will say it have never flexed it off road, if I did, maybe it would rub? I don't know honestly but for my use, I love it.

It's naturally less stable like any lifted truck will be. Power did suffer but not drastically, just have to drop down a gear going up hills at times to keep speed. When I decide to bend over and drop 2K on gears, i'll be going 4.88 These truck were under geared from the factory.

How come you went up 6" to run a tire you only need 3" to clear? It looks great, just a lot of extra money and work without the reward. You need 35"s!

Speaking of gears, how do I know if I need the 8" or the 8.75" set?

Yea true they needed minimum of 4.30 from factory, 4.88 would be perfect

Thanks for getting back with me, one last question how do you like the wheel spacers, I have never used them before? I'm like you very little off roading mostly pavement now a days. By the way I agree with you 100% about lifts, I was going to use stock coils w/5100 first and 1" block in rear but decided to go with new coils, I've lifted every truck I ever had in my 64 yrs, I can afford any lift I want but if your not going to use it why buy it!

When it comes to wheel spacers, spend the money on good ones. You want hub centric as well as whee centric. What hat means is there's a lip on the outside of the spacer that the rim rests on that way there is no weight on the lugs. Hub centric means the hole inside the spacer is identical to the hub so the spacer rests on the hub like the wheel would and there's no added stress on the factory lugs. SpiderTrax is basically the best quality spacer you'll find. Lifetime warranty and made in the USA. Look is their scratch as dent section and you'll find blemished spacers cheap. They are in no way blemished structurally. Mine each had a tiny scratch in them which really means nothing to me since I was going to paint them black anyway so they aren't seen and the majority of them is hidden behind the wheel. I paid something like $156 for all 4 brand new direct from Spidertrax including shipping. Give me 15-20 minutes and I'll post a link directly to what I ordered.

I actually started with 315 70 17 but they were rubbing the sway bar links, and they shouldn't have so the lift co. Sent me some 1.5" spacers. Well that made me rub the factory fender flares. So I sold the tire for a loss and bought the 295 70 17 toyo open country. Still didn't have much room for the sway bar links, although I did clear by a bit, so I took the 1.25" spider trax spacers off my 2011 and now it's good all around. I would probably be ok with 285 75 17 toyo's when I need tores again, but they are 63 lbs. each, the ones I have are only 50 lbs. With the 4.88 gears now, I won't worry about the weight so much next either. And you are right the truck probably should have had for 4.3 gears from the get-go. When I get my New gear's I will post how it runs. I'm hoping that it is fantastic!

Anyone have their traction control light go on when there going out a driveway and turning? Then you hear a loud horrible noise sounds like rubbing but it's actually the anti-lock brakes kicking on? took me awhile to figure out what the heck all that was. It ends up it is probably the yaw sensor I believe which thinks the truck is going to tip over because it is up high and it rocks going out to drive with the wheel turned so the anti-lock brakes kick on. Just need to disable by pushing the button overhead before you take off and that won't happen anymore.

Try the recalibration process. Mine does it also and it annoys the hell out of me. Just haven't had time to do the recalibration yet.

They did to recalibrate for me! It did not do any good. He warned me that it might not do anything, but he tried it anyways and it did not work. I wouldn't mind trying it again just to see but don't know if they will do it for me again.

Not that I'm glad your truck does it too but at least I know I'm not alone! Lol. Did you get the Hypertech speed calibrator? I did and it's nice to know my odometer and speedometer are correct!
