Yes and yes. I made mention of those in a later post. Modern cameras with mirrors have features which can "get you by" if you don't have a remote shutter release - turn on "mirror lockup" and turn on delayed shutter release (that feature which lets you setup the camera, hit the button, then get yourself in the picture). By locking the mirror up, and waiting a couple of seconds to take the picture, you give the camera a chance to settle back down/stop moving before making the image (a sturdy tripod is a must - a cheap one can carry/transmit vibrations to the camera). Only problem with this route is you have to work with exposure times built into the camera, because reaching up to press the button on the body will likely introduce movement of the camera and blur to the image.

The Milky Way can be done without a pile of gear if you have a fast-ish wide lens and a sturdy tripod. I caught this one at the Great Sand Dunes a few years ago.



And for deep sky stuff, or exposure stacking, you will want to get a sky tracker.

Yeah, you dont need much for the regular milky way, just camera, decent lens and tripod. I think most of mine were taken without even using my remote. I do have a wide lens at the top of the things to get for the camera. I should be able to do star pics from the new pad, so I'll have a bit of practice time!

Yes but I'm waiting for help with the headliner and floor
I figured I could handle the doors because I know how they come apart,but I got motivated and decided to do the back this morning.
