So my 1 year old trd off road (with 7K) was t-boned in April. $9K in repair work (labor and matl). Yesterday i took it to carmax for an appraisal. I had no idea that at least at the dealership i went to has a onsite x-ray type machine similar to a MRI which expects 360 degrees around vehicle. The appraisal came back indicating exactly all the areas where body work, paint and welds were performed (pretty amazing actually). The offer was $25K and they stated based on the damage that was done they could not put in their lot and would have to sell it through wholesale auction. The "at fault" insurance company previously offered me $4.2K for diminished value. I sent them this offer along with nada and kbb report stating the trade in should be $31K and therefore asked them pay me $6K. If they accept that puts me at the $31K (which ironically is what i bought the truck for originally). Thoughts ??

How long ago did the "at fault" insurance company offer you $4.2K for diminished value?

last week.. they had a diminished value appraiser come out and his report came back at 4.2K. Oddly his report showed my vehicle as a TRD PRO and the similar vehicles he had in the report were TRD PRO also. For some reason carfax shows my truck as a PRO and i think he went off that.

Appears maybe you should have taken the original $5K offer:
