While its the most dated of the mid size pickups. Nissan Frontier has a very low complaint record since 2009 according to carcomplaints.com

I actually am looking very hard at the pro 4x. It is cost less than Toyota or Chevy/GMC. Has pretty much proven tech. and I don't need all the wiz bang stuff of smart phone connections, lane change warnings, etc. Just want a dependable mid size pickup.

We have fleet of pool cars where I work and I maintain them. Lets talk AFTER 50000 miles. We have Hondas, GM products, Fords, Chryslers, Toyotas. I am not bias just facts, the GM products are by far the most degrading vehicles over time. Noises, clunks, rattles, RECALLS, hvac servo problems, leaks, front end problems, That's why I call them government motors or for short GM.

Agreed. I've changed damn near all the steering/suspension components, water pump, and power steering pump among other things on my wife's acadia, all under 80k miles. Sticker was almost 40k for the POS. No mo GM is this driveway. Sucks because I get a GM supplier discount with my work and I'm almost always a sucker for a good deal, almost.

Well there's two people who agreed with me. I loved my 02 silverado. It was basically bullet proof. Left me once in town for alternator last year at 170k miles. But the steering wheel play and suspension play was always there.

    I wonder why that is.

I'm thinking GM paid a lot to have the canyon rated #1. Cars.com always seem to be huge fans of GM

regardless still rather have a tacoma.
what's with a lot of the mid sized trucks looking like minivans now? Ridgeline, Canyon, Colorado all look like minivan fronts. Things are so ugly.

Better for what most people actually use their trucks for, but lets be realistic...people buy their trucks "aspirationally". Guys get 4x4 because they aspire to go wheeling or think they have a significant use for it*. People also buy based on looks. The Ridgeline looks like an Outback/mini-van--so unless you are a short-haired, softball loving woman, you probably aren't drawn to the looks of the Ridgeline. So The RL might be "better" for some practical applications, but most people buy trucks based on feeling, emotions, aspirations..followed a ways back by logic, reasoned thought, and practicality.

*I'm not saying some guys dont actually need 4x4. I just think most of us that have it could probably get by with 4x2.

You replied to me complaining in another thread about "just sit in the GM twins and you'll see how much the suck". I don't think I responded there, but I will here: You are 100% correct. It was almost instantaneous when sitting in the those trucks--the "nope" feeling. The steering wheel felt insignificant compared to the tacoma. The rest was cheap and plastic-y. The Tacoma's interior is exponentially better than the crap GM is putting out for the mid-sized trucks.

I just wish I didn't have so many issues with my Tacoma. I love the truck--I just hate all of the issues with it. It's so frustrating and disappointing at the same time.

But with all of the problems, there isn't really any competition in the midsize market.
