Made some more progress on my slow ass tubbing project. Got the front fenders trimmed up, and beat the shit out of the front inners to clear at full stuff. Still need to weld in my firewall sheeting... :anonymous:

I was actually wearing a set of super heavy lined PVC gloves to the elbows, over a double pair of medical latex for most of the time.
the gloves were thick enough that I had to remove the PVC outers to open the containers a few times and to get under the rail and around all the bed cleats. also the latex kept getting destroyed (chemicals) so i frequently had to remove them and get a new pair which caused some to get onto my skin as gloves tore, were pulled off replaced ect. not a lot, and I actually just assumed my hands were sweaty from being in 3 pair of gloves for an extended period on a 80+ degree day ... anyway along the way I changed gloves and checked my messages which destroyed my phone in the process.

Toluene must be some crazy insane stuff, I've worked with some pretty bad chemicals in my past career and I've never had anything like that happen.

I think I would rather find a woman I hate, then buy her a house before I would do a SAS. I like the jeep suggestion.

I like the idea of a solid front axle, but putting one under the Tacoma just never appealed to me. The form they take on just always looks douchy to me. But hey, I'm just a wittle IFS guy that cant fab shit... I guess there are many big-money rabbit holes (SAS, diesel swap) people can jump down with these trucks, and whether it's worth it or not is pretty subjective

It all depends on if you are going to do the fab work or not and if you want leafs or links. Trail gears kit is okay. It has a lot of the stuff but still missing things. Think its a good start if you cant fab. In all reality, selling your truck and buying a jeep or an older toyota with a solid axle is the way to go. As much as i love my truck, but if I was to do it all over again, I probably would have sold my truck and bought a jeep. Way better aftermarket support (between Jeep and Tacoma sas) and for the money I dumped it, could have a really well built jeep. But with this all said, I still love my truck and it does just as well as my dads built wrangler (stretched, truck conversion, dana 300, 37s, etc...) and others. If your seriously interested in doing it, start doing some reading then ask questions. Good info under the solid axle section here and then go start reading on pirate. I have had an account on pirate for 3 years or so now and dont have a single post. TONS of info over there and a lot of the older (79-95) info transfers over to our trucks. Figure out what your goals are for the truck, what axles you want, steering box, tire size, leafs vs. links and etc. Take a look at my build and I think I did a good job documenting it and showing just how much work it is. This truck is still my dd and does very well. Cruise 65 every day to work in comfort. And listen to the guys who have sas a truck and seen the work and driven one. Different from someone who wanted one or doesnt think its worth it. Theres quite a few nice ones on here who are willing to answer questions.
