SPekaing to you guys who were in the market for more than just a Toyota before you pulled the trigger.
    After you logged some miles

    and....

Considering a crew cab F150 can be had for less than a TRD double offroad.

Would you still consider, or have had thoughts that you perhaps should have gone f150?

I'm starting to be on the fence with this. 2017 double offroad, or crew f150.

I really really really want to like the Tacoma. THe size is great for trails at my farm, hunting etc. But the cab is much smaller.

The f150 may be too big, but has the cab I need.

And cost. Much less than I can have a taco for.

Our opinion doesn't matter. You need to do what's best for you. If you need the bigger truck...then get a Tundra! Lol

I would do it again in a heartbeat. But why I chose the truck are for my own reasons. Off-road capability, Toyota reliability, and the fact that I don't have kids makes it an easy decision. Gotta do what's right for you though.

Yeah we considered the tundra. But the 12 gallons to the mile, plus the fact we do not tow many space shuttles. It is just too much truck for us.

The cab size of the new taco will work. Which is odd since we looked at a 2013 before deciding to go new, and it didn't work. So I assume they changed the cab, or seating some how.

We will have two child seats in the back. One forward and one back

As a TRD OR double cab owner that's put on 11K miles since January...I would recommend giving the F150 a real honest shot. I couldn't, in good conscious, recommend a Tacoma right now.

These Tacomas have issues. Toyota isn't being very proactive about fixing them. So not only would you be paying more for a truck that might be too small, there is a good chance it has some buzzing, vibration, howling, etc bullshit you would have to deal with.

I'm considering an F150 as we speak. 0% APR for 72 months?!? And I wouldn't have to deal with these issues? ANNND I could get the ECO boost with better MPGs?!?

My first choice was the '16 F150 for it's towing ability and the alum body.
While a F150 would have fit in my garage (barely), it was too much of a PITA to have to do it every single day. It's a boat.
I wouldn't even consider a GM (Canyon) midsize so the Taco it was.
I love the size of the Taco but an alum V8 would have given it the ability to have some "real" towing ability.
Toyota missed the boat on that one as there's certainly enough room in the bay.

I went from a Ram Hemi to the Taco. I have zero regrets. Parking isn't a pain. Gas mileage is better. Rides better.

My neighbor's '15 2.7 EcoBoost DCSB 4x4 has been in the shop twice chasing CELs and some weird dash light flickering. Shit happens. :notsure:

I think if you're looking at a different truck to avoid problems then you would be sadly mistakened.

Some tacos have issues clearly. A lot don't.

Other trucks have issues too. Visit there forums.

I think I can make the car seats work, I see others doing the same. Though I think it would be tight. But it's only from time to time, as my wife hauls the kiddos in her pilot , I mean ridgline, most of the time ;)..

However let's put it this way... with double cab owners, how are you with hauling passengers?

I agree 100 on statement from lovci. Each truck is gonna have issues. Ford sourced aluminum could be contaminated with isotopes and all ford owners die of cancer in 10 years. That's obviously not true, but the point is we don't know how the newer trucks are gonna roll. We can only run on reputation.

I really want to like tacoma, but cab size has me wavering, as it appears it has done the same to others.

Ha the site I am on you don't see much at all about problems with 2015 and if there is a dealer not handling their shiat. Then one of Ford customer care reps step in and help you out and I certainly have ever seen Toyota do this. look down on the page and you will see what I am talking about quote #9

So..... everyone knows that Tacomas excel when it comes to off road, retention of value, and historical long term reliability (which may or may not translate into future reliability of this new model, but its all we have at this point).

Some people buy Tacoma because off road is an important part of their lifestyle so other trucks just don't cut it. Others go off road only occasionally but that is still important to them. Some may never go off road (at least not to the point that any 4x4 couldn't handle) but get warm fuzzies knowing that they have a truck that could if they wanted to, and there is nothing wrong with that.

My advice is this: Don't make sacrifices on things that will make a big difference in your everyday life so you can have a truck that gives you the warm fuzzies about something that you may or may not do. If want to push your off road experience to the extreme you will be kicking yourself every time you get stuck in your 150. On the other hand, if you really need the space inside and off-roading is just a nice to have you will be kicking yourself every single day you cram your family into the Taco so get the 150. Just make sure if you go off-road you take a friend with a Tacoma to pull you out when you get stuck :)
