Had that same problem on two leer caps with the single open handle and wires running to the latches on both sides (shity design). Tried to get the two handle design and they said they can't on the XQs.
I cut up an old plastic three ring binder and duck taped it to cover the exposed wires. It worked good until the dogs clawed enough to rip one off(about a year later). Need to figure out a better solution on my new cap(will post when done)
I just finished a 1800 mile trip with three dogs and the only reason they didn't pop the back door was the gear was stacked high enough to cover the problem areas.

You're so right! Allen peak tram is my favorite. We might have to get these silver Tacos together and take a photo shoot! I like your sport with the shell that looks damn good.

Nice, same canopy I just put a downpayment on. Except I went with windoors, and the front fold down window. Was going to get the sliding front window on it, but i have never once opened the rear window.

Looks really nice. Is the black trim a flat matte paint finish or a textured one ?

that's what you get for owning german short hairs
those things are bloody smart haha. My uncle has 6 of them, cant even put them in the back yard without locking the doors to the house cause they learned how to open the doors if they aren't locked.

Still not sure how one of them manages to always get out of her kennel too.
Not sure what you can do to stop them, buggers are so smart, good luck dude.

I got a $70 Curt tire carrier off Amazon, chopped it up and welded it to make it hinge and to give more clearance.

I think I came up with a solution. 2" abs pipe, cut to fit between the latch mechanism and the fiberglass opening. Notch out a slit down the middle for the cable to go through and adhere the pipe to the glass. I had some 1.5" pipe and tried it, but was just a little too small to cover and prevent the latch from dog nose contact. I'll report back with pictures once I have it installed.

For sure, as long as there isn't deep loose sand or steep descents involved, my sport doesn't have any magic knobs overhead! :sadviolin:

Yeah, I have a Houdini and a destroyer; they do a pretty good job keeping me busy. One of them jumps the 6' cedar fence like it's nothing
and the other will dig under the slats enough to get his mouth on it and rip it off. :annoyed:

my uncle had one, he had to put down after he got cancer, but the bugger somehow could jump up and in the process of pushing the handle down on the door would also push on the lock and unlock it so he could escape into the backyard. They also really liked to chase and kill his chickens haha. Even with them in their own pen they found a way in and would chase them around and kill them.

One thing for sure though they are amazing when it comes to hunting. I know two of them even before training just watching the older ones caught on right away how to point and flush.

And of course they love driving my grandmother insane haha

She's the biggest suck and probably one of the smartest too.Very fast as well, even on quads its hard to keep up with her sometimes. She's the houdini getting out of the kennel every night, and of course when she gets out has to come jump on the bed with me 10338545_730184570432452_313811892770851688_o.jpg

My Z Series leaked a lot at first. I jacked it up a few inches for access, and sealed all visible gaps in the bed with 3M 2228 tape. Also added a tailgate gasket plus tape around the tailgate bottom and sides. It's much better now ... drove through hours of torrential downpours in the South this summer with no leaks. However, last time I went to the self-service car wash I did get a few drops inside, but I really aimed the nozzle between cap and cab to clean it up, so that's not surprising. It's really the bed that needs sealing, not the cap itself.

They are used to riding open air. On long trips they are in the cab or in the back in kennels.

Does any of the rear door on your Leer touch the paint or is all of the contact with the tailgate's plastic cap?

My old Glasstite rubbed on the paint on my 2007 and if this capper door is going to touch the paint, I think i'll put some 3M film across it.

    Thanks,

Peeled off my TRD bedside decal. I think it looks better now. I hated how part of the canopy covered the bedside decal...
