Fall of 2014, they had "truck month" buddies picked up some new loaded silverados for $10k off, I made the mistake of looking at one, traded my lifted beautiful 2011 Access cab for it, 5 months later I dumped that bitch at a 5k loss for my 2015.

I don't know if he is a troll, but he is certainly a fanboi.

If anyone posts a problem with their truck he is one of the first to swoop in and piss all over the OP's problem, since the OP is obviously the only one with said issue and they should just shut up since Tacomas are inherently perfect.

We have no idea how many people are affected by issues with the Tacoma. That information is safe guarded to ensure that Toyota continues it's "reliable" truck build. Also, it took me thousands of miles to notice the issue so potentially speaking here, there could be more. Also, just for the record, Toyota is using one differential producing company for these trucks. So in other words, if I had mine replaced, and it is still making noise, then maybe all of them will make noise over time. Thanks.

That is some damn nice, clean black paint. I would keep that picture close and hold it tenderly at night after ripping that truck down some trails and through the bushes.

If only you can return vehicles the same way you can return BBQs... You're tossing out a strawman argument.

Most people can do basic math and unloading a truck for a $3-7k loss isn't something people tend to accept.

I wasn't saying you can return a truck like a BBQ. But if it's not doing what it's supposed to there has got to be a way to remedy it other than "waiting for the solution". Maybe Toyota will fix the issue. Maybe they won't and your new truck depreciates "$3-7k" just because it's got a known diff issue that no one wants to deal with.

If Toyota just keeps replacing diffs that wear out the same they're backed up against a wall. As a consumer I feel like the ball's in your court and you should be able to find an alternative to waiting out your warranty.

I would hope the people at Toyota understand that the reason people buy their product is because of dependability. I just wonder how many people will continue driving the trucks if diff issues continue solely because they're too proud of their purchase and are unwilling to tell Toyota that it isn't acceptable. If it's not acceptable then turning your back may be a real possible solution no matter how much you like your truck.

And again I'm not saying the issues mentioned are a plague among all the trucks or something the few are making up. I just find it interesting the way people are going about their possible options. Just my opinion I guess.

But seriously I do hope that the issues get resolved and that the Tacoma upholds it's well known dependability. They're awesome trucks.

The upside us that Toyota fanboys will keep resale high, so we can all unload these in a year or two with minimal loss.

The strategy I'm taking is: Force Toyota to continue to fix the issues. They will pay more than I'm losing by the end of this...or they will fix my truck.

I'm also doing my part to tell everyone I know about the issues I'm having with the truck. The next step, if my issues don't get fixed the next go around, is to blow them up on social media.
