well, unless you have a better solution that gives me the same dry storage space as a cap and is still 100% watertight, the cap still fills my needs over an sort of roll up/tri fold cover

    Enclosed trailer. Duh.

Caps are never 100% water tight. Your rotting bedrails will show you in the coming years

Not at all. We have all our parts sand blasted before powder so no worries there.

    Yawn...
I used to throw my guitars in the bed and I do wish that it was at least waterproof back there. I don't have a cap, but I do have an over the rail cover with "waterproof" seals. What sucks is if I run through a puddle or drive through an undercarriage car wash, the inside of the bed gets soaked. I learned my lesson the hard way.

I'm guessing it travels up the drain holes in the bed front and in the spacing around the tailgate.:annoyed:

The bed is not sealed at all. Water can come up the drain holes, can come in through the side pockets, where the bed meets the tailgate. Just climb in on a sunny day and look around, light comes through everywhere. For people that absolutely need 100% dry storage, the Tacoma was the wrong truck to buy.

Or put a tool box in the bed or some kind of sealed plastic bin. You can do the day light trick and chase the light with a tube of RTV, that helps a lot also. Just seal everything up from the under side so you don't see it. Gasket material around the storage bin doors will help also.

There are tons of local places, for motors with more miles and twice as much money. Ridiculous how I can have a lower mileage motor shipped across the country and still save $1000.
