I was looking at those yet settled on the Taco. What do you dislike about the GMC?

Nope, it's the 2009 Tacoma leading the pack with 105 different complaints then the 2007 with 67. The 2016 lists 55 problems but plenty of other 2nd gen model years come close.

    http://www.toyotaproblems.com/Tacoma/

Each year contains a link to the specifics in car complaints dotcom

Has anyone compared these complaint numbers against sales volume? If product A gets twice as many complaints as Product B the seems bad...

Unless you then find that product A sells five times as many units as product B.

It's the rate of problems per number of units sold that is important to look at, not the raw number of problems. I'm not seeking to defend Toyota here, but only to point out that raw data doesn't necessarily provide information.

Logic is often rather annoying to those with an agenda.

The Ridgeline also includes hardware and a mounting point at the front of the bed for the spare tire if you are specifically planning on hauling certain things that would make access to the trunk difficult or you just want easier access while off-roading. I like how the in-bed trunk keeps the spare tire easier to get to in most cases (unless bed fully loaded) and locked up safely. I don't haul loose rock or things that couldn't be unloaded in the rare event of a flat tire, but I do worry about my spare tire getting stolen or damaged off-road on the Tacoma. I considered the spare tire lock from Toyota but I read on here somewhere that it can rust and leave your spare tire locked under your truck? I need to check out alternative spare tire locking options before I take my Taco to any unsafe areas.

Why is everyone kissing the Ridgeline's ass all of a sudden. The Tacoma is a superior truck no question!

I have the same question. What did you not like about the GMC Canyon All Terrain that made you switch?

Odd that they used the Z71 off-road package on the Colorado but not the AllTerrain off-road package on the Canyon.

They then say the Canyon wasn't built for off-roading... No shyt Sherlock, you didn't put the off-road package on it like you did the Colorado.

Ya gotta read this stuff thoroughly folks...

I will be honest, the Honda has some great features. One big con I keep hearing is the shallow angle of the rear doors opening, it is a deal killer for me with a young daughter. Another member brought up the spare under the bed compartment. God forbid you have a flat while hauling a bed full of stuff. I do think the Honda has many benefits. The ride and driveabilty are more car like. That is a plus especially after many back surgeries. As far as the way the tail gate opens, it is wicked. The Ridgeline is the vehicle I would pick for my wife (who does not drive off road but still drives in bad weather). The Tacoma is more what I'd pick for me to use for hauling and more of a light-medium work situation while still being able to off-road to some real off the wall locations. Both are great vehicles in their own right. It is up to you to decide how you want to use each one.

FWIW, I love the picture of the lifter Ridgeline. It looks way better than a stock one.

What are you 16, you are a grown adult; trying to look cool should be the last thing on your mind. You should keep what best fits you and your family. Wasting more money on something that looks cool to help your image is a moot point (it really does nothing for the image). In most all the ways the ridgeline is better for your needs listed. Keep it, raise it an inch or two, change up the wheels and tires and make it more yours. That will be much cheaper than going in on a vehicle that is not dealed on and will probably annoy you more on the road. Be smart on this...

In which way other than off road (which most people don't utilize) or towing? Honest question, everything I am seeing is the other way unless you are set on a truck having a full frame.

    Speaking for myself...
I looked at but didn't drive the Honda. I didn't like the spare tire placement, the way the rear seats folded/stowed, or the front-seat minivan chair armrests in lieu of a raised center console. While the tailgate is neat, I don't know when I would need it to swing out sideways. The trunk seems neat but again, I dislike the stowed spare. Complete lack of aftermarket support as best I could tell at a quick glance, though that may change in time. I've also been burned in the past with Honda dropping a model after three or four years and accessory availability drying up like an Arizona rain. Plus, I was buying *now* and the Honda is a brand new revision vs. the 2017 Tacoma being a 2nd year of the generation.

Also, I do off-road enough that the capability is important. I miss the forest service roads / camping I did with my Jeep and look forward to getting back out there.
