    Regarding launching:

If you need to launch hard and you have full traction control on, you are setting yourself up to have a bad time. Most of the time it is OK, but all it takes is hitting a paint stripe or similar and the ECU will pull throttle so you are a sitting duck. Pretty much any throttle by wire vehicle I've had will do the same thing. Unloaded trucks are light in the back which doesn't help. I don't normally accelerate hard enough for it to be an issue, but if I know I have to pull out into fast traffic or similar, I'll hit the Trac Off button once to disable the throttle-cut portion of TCS (which Toyota calls "Auto LSD" or some such).

Just today I was in that situation and the truck launched hard and fast. My wife had said that we wouldn't be able to make the left turn onto the highway with speeding traffic but with Trac Off (Ok, really Auto LSD), it got it done with no additional fuss. I have also been in a situation where I was stuck behind a slow car for 20 minutes and then came to a stoplight where it temporarily added an extra lane to pass. I punched it coming off the line (traction control was still fully on) but the truck just puttered along and I barely passed the slowpoke before I lost my lane. That's what drove me to experiment and research the issue.

    What can be done:

    1. Toyota could re-program the traction control tuning
    2. Add grip by getting better (road) tires
    3. Push the Track Off button when you need to get it going now.

All that said, it is a PITA and I wish Toyota would lighten up on the throttle kill portion of traction control, but I don't think it's a huge flaw.

Take yours to the shop. My truck takes off like a race horse when pushed to the floor.

You don't need to go anywhere. Although I really appreciate your protest post! Just use the ignore feature, especially if it is only 5 complainers that seem to have you upset.

The thing is, for many people, vehicles are not small items that are easy to just dump or get rid of... there are financial and time investment aspects to it. And there are many here (myself included) that want to like the truck as much as all the cheerleader folks here. We just need some of the common (ok, not common, 5 people right?) issues resolved which to us seem like legitimate things to be fixed. It really seems that simple.

I agree 100%. I understand that people are sick of complaining, I do. On the flip side, the people with issues are sick of being brushed off and ridiculed for trying to figure out what is wrong with their brand new truck. This is a Tacoma forum, of course there are going to be people on here discussing issues. If those of us with issues had a dollar for every time that we were told to "Just get rid of it" or "Sell/trade it in" it might make financial sense to actually do that. The thing is that I do love the truck, I just have an issue that I believe shouldn't be something that I need to have addressed for the money that I spent on this vehicle. If it truly is as simple as "Just getting something new" then maybe one of the guys that constantly says this could reimburse me for the time and money that I would lose doing so. Since you know, it isn't a big deal. But like I said, I love my Taco, and I have no intention of getting rid of it. I just want Toyota to fix what I think shouldn't have been an issue in the first place, and let me love it 100% instead of 95%.

I'll chime in here as well just to help you out. I've done this multiple times in my truck, with and without ECT on and in D. My truck will snap your head back and push you into the seat, especially with ECT on.
The only time I have a problem like yours is when I'm slowly crawling in traffic and then I hit the gas to the floor. It takes it a moment to downshift all the way before it takes off.
Also, please remember that this is not a drive by cable truck and it will not perform like one.

I have had something similar to the launch delay, but in a different circumstance.

It's happened a noticeable amount of times. Basically, I am accelerating on the highway or the streets, when I suddenly have to brake since someone in front of me slows down, but then they start to speed up again. At that moment, I let go of the brake, and press throttle but there is no reaction until maybe 1full sec later(or a little bit more) and it feels forced. Could this be attributed to the sudden downshifting/upshifting? It's the 4cyl btw.

I am rooting for Toyota to fix this but the gen 3 is an obvious departure from how they got their solid reputation.

You should drive my TDI with DSG. I've almost been hit on more than one occasion trying to get it out of its own way.

My 2015 has zero delay of any kind, I let the clutch out and it moves, something sounds off if its sitting there not moving when you are trying to accelerate, I would take it in too.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
Exactly!!!.... You shouldn't have to disable traction control, or anything else for that matter, to have REASONABLE power delivered when the accelerator is FULLY depressed. This truck cuts you off at the nuts COMPLETELY!

My standard line of... (NOW FIRST LET ME SAY, I LOVE MY TRUCK) that i usually use before discussing the issues that it has is honestly starting to fade. I swear to god if the rear end starts to howl or the leafs start squeaking (the only two common problems i don't seem to have) i am going drop this one on somebody looking to buy and then special order a Hilux diesel from f*cking Zimbabwe or wherever the hell they are marketed!

I'm at a small dealership in Weatherford Texas getting the oil changed in my wife's 4R and went fora stroll. 1 New 2016 Tacoma for sale on the front lot. What's puzzling is that they have about 20 loaners outback and 10of them are 2016 Tacoma with tags . They all say loaner on them so maybe someone in the biz knows why this would be.

So 0-60 times will improve by one second when corrected because they all have this issue ? High 6's would be great, or maybe they all don't have this issue.

If you bring an old car in to fix it's great advertising for the customers next purchase and the dealer ad on the back also. Brings people into the dealership.
    Hot product.

I know you're probably joking, but short of being a diplomat, there is not much chance of you driving a new hilux in the United States.
