    Hello all,

I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road. I bought Sylvania ZEVO LED's to replace the front turn signals. After installing them, im experiencing hyper flashing when using turn signals. However, the hazard lights have no hyper flashing at all - they work completely normal. I really do not want to put in line resistors and my brand new truck.

I was reading through some other posts and found that I should modify/replace the turn signal relay.

My problem is, I cannot find the relay. The 3rd Gen Tacoma's must not have the same wiring setup as the 2nd Gens. I followed a guide for the 2nd Gen and it's totally different under the dash.

So, does anyone know where in the world the relay is??

    Thanks in advance!

It's easier (in my experience) to just put the in line resistors, on the wiring. They were cheaper than the new relay, I would've had to buy

Edit: and I imagine that the relay is either located in the fuse box or behind the plastic panel, to the left of the pedals

I know it's easier, but I don't want to modify wiring on my brand new truck. I would have to undo the factory harness and screw a resistor in to the body somewhere.

If it is, I couldn't find it. There were 3 blue relays that I could find under the dash, all the way to the left. I unplugged each one, one by one, and the turn signals were still working.

I've seen both of those links. The first link you sent me has a picture of the under-dash area. If you compared that picture to what I have under my dash, you wouldn't even know it was the same truck! It's crazy how much Toyota changed.

Also, I think the turn signal sound is electronic. Whenever I don't fasten my seat belt, the warning beep will come on and it seems like the turn signal sound mutes.

Well if that's the case, maybe it's possible that it is a circuit board relay, which means it would be soldered... My only guess would be to trace the wiring from the steering column and see were it takes you?:notsure:

Yikes! That sounds like it will take some time! I'll have to wait until next weekend to get in to a project like that. Hopefully, someone else knows.

I'd just put regular bulbs back in. What's the obsession with LED?

Have you seen all the 3rd gen guys, selling parts off of their trucks, after getting rear-ended?! Maybe our bulbs aren't bright enough

I thought it would be easy to put LED turn signals, brakes, and daytime lights. I got hyper flashing turn signal like a rice burner and the turn signal relay makes a louder clicking noise cause it thinks a bulb burnt out.

After spending $150 on LED light bulbs, I took apart my lower dash on my 2015, remove turn signal relay, cut the sense resister out, solder on a computer resistor, then I wrapped sound proofing material around the relay cause I didn't want to hear any annoying clicking from the relay and put everything back together.

I finally got it to work normal but it was more trouble than I thought. My goal was to have brighter lights that never burn out and reduce light power consumption which I did reduce from 4.5 amps to .6 amps. I did not put in in line resistor because it gets hot, possibly burn something, and defeats the purpose of putting in LED to reduce electrical consumption.

The LED did not illuminate the light housing during the day as well as incandescent lights although at night, LED are brighter.

So now I have a 2016 DCSB, I am leaving my lights alone. Incandescent light bulbs in your truck last 5-10 years anyways.

I've got HID's and that's it as far as factory lighting. I don't see the need to upgrade plate bulbs, map lights, turn signals. They don't do me any good. Take away from actual mod money.

Same here. I think my next big investment will be a lift... Then sliders. Or maybe both!

There are switchback LED with built in resisters to prevent hyper flashing. I found one a year ago specifically for the Tacoma with DRL after hours of searching. Now I can't find it.
