How much are you paying for your 2017 Tacoma?

wow, I bought my truck on Sept 18th 2008, sticker was around $31kish... Crew Cab-TRD-Off Road... bought it for $26,500... plus all the BS fees and taxes... and you guys are content paying $37k and above... Boy, that's a tough pill to swallow for me paying that much on a mid-size truck... TOUGH pill!

 

Tell me about it, for us in Canada it's a lot worse now. I was looking a couple of years ago at full sized trucks and with decent options they were $40K Canadian... now with the CDN$ being so poor again the new models of those are all $60K+ with similar options. I'm pretty concerned it will get worse over the next 3 years too which is why i'm getting in now.

 

get a used one...or buy in the US and ship it back to canada

 

Again the price doesn't make sense. For one thing after conversion and taxes and shipping it would cost more to get US trucks and send them back right now.
For another the truck market here is massive and the used truck market is pretty silly.

For example, I was looking at used 2010-2013 Tacomas and even with 100KMs on them they are still $35,000 CDN+ meanwhile new 2016/2017s are only $8000-$10000 more ($6000-$8000 US$ and there's no point in looking at 15s or 16s because you end up saving a couple thousand $ for 30,000 - 60,000 KMs on your truck. You could penny pinch but why do so? Just a tough market right now.

I would not say we are "content" to pay the $37K but that is the price to play if you want new. My 2015 purchased in August of 2014 was $5K cheaper but did not have the "tech" package which is around $2K.

A similar equipped '17 Colorado or Canyon is close to $40K or more. Full size trucks are pushing $50K. My buddy just bought a "King Ranch" Ford for $55K plus!! They are nice but nothing beats a Toyota. My '17 will be my 5th Toyota truck and my 4th Tacoma.

It is called inflation. If your finances have not grown since 2008 I can see why you feel the way you do

 

How quickly we forget... remember that little economic crisis in 2007/8 as well as the 2008 oil price shock?

Late 2008 was a great time to buy a truck. Not nearly as many folks were buying them and the manufacturers were cratering.

I have a TRD OR LB 4x4 fully loaded in Quicksand inbound to my favorite dealership here in California. I say favorite because since 2005 I have purchased through the same person a: 4 runner, 2 siennas and a tacoma. Now the time has come to discuss pricing. They maintain that they can't budge below MSRP. I don't expect Invoice pricing because of the inherent supply and demand rule. Still, I believe I deserve better than that. By comparison, I bought the wife an M4 convertible - 1st one in California back in 2015. The sales manager from whom I purchased from is a douche but he still met me half way between MSRP and Invoice.

I have 3 weeks to find my replacement truck.

Anyone in SoCal have a better hookup? I'm not particularly happy with the lack of loyalty from my "favorite" dealership.

Keep trying, walk away and talk to multiple dealers. 1st dealer didn't want to go under msrp but throw in tint and stuff. I got 1400 under msrp today for an inferno dcsb TRD OR. Maybe could have done better but much better than their initial nothing off

 

2017 TRD Offroad, 4x4, Long bed, Silver, with tow and premium/technology package. $37,800 Yuma Arizona. Drove from San Diego to get it since all SD and LA dealers would barely budge off MSRP of 40k +- few hundred. A few SD dealers were marking up over MSRP by thousands, ridiculous.

 

rlx02 - was this in SoCal? It seems as though the dealers out of state are more willing to deal.

 

Again if the Canadian $ was closer to par it might make more sense. Moving to the US when the CDN$ is down so far would be a costly endeavor.

2017 DCORLB in quicksand with premium & tech (non-JBL), towing, all weather floor mats/sills, exhaust tip. Truck with options for $37,858. Going to try to get them to include a roofrack and bed mat at that price but things are finally in motion

 

Does that $ include Nav, or tech pkg?

 

It's a trd off-road so it has nav, but no tech or JBL package.

 

2017 ORDC, Quicksilver, Manual, Prem+Tech package, Tow package, Floor mats.
MSRP was 37,203. I am paying 35,100 before DH of 499 and taxes (only 5.3%).

So I am thinking 2,100 off MSRP is pretty good? what do you guys think? I shopped dealers in Denver and nobody would match or beat it.

Also I used Costco auto buying service, which I think helped the deal...

Should be picking it up next week, ordered it on the 16th of August.
