I was replacing the bushings in my upper control arms (UCA). When removing the long mounting bolt it hits the airbag sensors. The driver side sensor came off cleanly but the passenger side nuts stripped.

For whatever reason the driver side is mounted with bolts and the passenger side uses studs.

I have a feeling the threads were damaged during the original UCA install several years ago. Well I was able to get the UCA bolt out and finish the UCA R&R.

Now I am putting it all back together and I can't tighten the air bag sensor on the passenger side. It is stuck in a lose position with a nut stuck on one of the studs. It won't tighten or loosen. So the airbag sensor is lose and able to wiggle, I figure that is a bad thing.

    What do I do?

I can cut the stud and remove the sensor as a short term fix. But then I need to replace the studs. What a PITA. I am not sure how the studs are mounted as I can't see the other side of the fender well/sheet metal.

Any suggestions? I need to get this thing back on the road ASAP and I can't have it down

Drill holes through the fender close to where it was stock and use a nut and a bolt to secure it.

    Thanks,

Ended up doing this this morning. It seemed to work fine.
