They need them for all of the Tacoma's coming in for extended service

 

I talked with an associate about them and he said they were coming in by the truckload. Used or at least with mileage on them. I'm guessing here but they are more than likely returns that had issues but are now repaired. They looked brand-new but had mileage. I'm sure Toyota did just decide to put a bunch of TRD OR 4x4 as loaners. Usually it's carolla

 

It reminds me a lot of turbo lag. I think I was used to it due to my last vehicle. Now you guys are making me concerned...

Edit: A lot of people claiming it could be related to traction control. I have noticed that the hesitation is much worse when the truck is unladen and I'm the only passenger. Throw some weight in the back and the truck actually seems to respond better.

Yep, what a pile! I've been watching this video all morning and it hasn't moved an inch.

 

The point is that it seems unusual that Toyota would have half the fleet loaners as TRD OR Tacos. Just saying that it would make better business sense to have a good mix and mostly econo-box loaners.

 

Good advertising, high up. Wouldn't look right on a car imo.

 

Those loaners are for mainly for 2Gen and Tundra frame replacement customers....Really.

 

They gave me a bottom of the line Honda Civic to keep for 3 weeks when my frame failed.

 

And probably billed mother Toyota for a Tundra rental.

 

Took me a few weeks to learn the quirks of the throttle, but if you hit the throttle with a firm pressure and quickly ramp up throttle it'll instantly take off like a bat out of hell.
Honestly I can't think of the last time I floored a vehicle from 0% to 100% throttle in one fell swoop in daily driving. I think this truck would accelerate faster with a quick ramp up rather than punching it anyway.
But take it in man, maybe something is up with yours, but I'd be prepared to hear, "that's normal".

 

For comparison - hre is the first year of the Colorado - 2016 shows a significant improvement.

 

Same here, if I need to immediately floor it from a stop for some reason, I've probably already screwed up.

 

Another addition: Almost got t-boned the other day taking off at a stop sign because of the delay.

 

No issues here, pulls out fast and quick.
One second is timing it pretty close anyway IMO. I would never pull out in front of a car with a little over a second delay from being hit.

So, I went out to my local parking lot to do some testing and my truck accelerated just fine with and without traction control on. It also performed OK on y outs, high speed reverse, and driving over hurricane debris. Of course there is the chance that due to my old age I just can't press the gas pedal fast enough to replicate the findings.

I'll admit the throttle takes some getting used to (especially since ALL of my previous cars have been mechanical throttle and this is electrical) but once youve driven it for more than 20 minutes if you "almost get t-boned" because of it. You dont need to be driving.
