Lol. I've debated it a few times because I want to drive my truck, bad, but with Louisiana roads sucking as bad as they do and the back tires being way out of balance, I don't want to take the risk. If it came down to it, I'd wheel the hell out of it with no shocks, though haha.

Hey Sean, heads up. There's a potentially huge TW thing shaping up. A TW Southeast Region Meet at Gulches! We have some FL peeps gonna go and some GA folks are expressing interest. Pretty sure that NC, SC, and possibly VA are going to be represented. It'd be cool if LA was present as well.

I really want to go, but with the state of my finances it's probably not in the cards...plus, I'd have to find a way to trailer the OGT up there in case something that can't be fixed trail-side goes Tango Uniform. :pout:

Here for the 63's :spy: Couple questions. What shocks did you go with? Also, what's the advantage of that fancy shackle hanger? Looks kinda unstable to me, but I've never seen that used on a Tacoma before. Is there a reason you didn't do a double shackle setup? It also looks like you had to cut your slider support. Did you weld the brace back in once you were finished? Finally, about how much did the entire project cost? This has me interested in MAYBE doing this to my truck instead of just getting Dakar packs.

Nevermind, I see you got the 14" 5125's. How about a picture of how you have them set up?

Sorry, I missed this, man. I could have probably made it but its been quite a while since I've even signed into TW. I've had a few big things go down over the past year. New job and new truck (still have the yota, just finally got me a tow pig). No real updates on the yota. I went to hidden falls in texas in december and beat on it and haven't been wheeling since. But I've got my annual trip planned in October to AR to the Southern Cruiser Crawl. I can't wait. I'm dying to get back on the trail.

Sorry it took so long to respond. The joint for the rear hanger helps to keep the leaf from twisted at full droop or full compression. It gives you a little more travel since the leaf spring isn't twisting and binding. Yea I had to cut the rear slider support and I just welded it solid to the frame. I have the bolt-on sliders but since I don't ever foresee pulling them off, I just welded it solid. Honestly, I can't remember how much I have into it. I don't know why but the 1k mark pops in my head but that seems high. I'd have to go back and figure everything back up.

Yea I got them on. It is fairly spongy with them leaned in like they are but they work for what I'm doing. I rarely drive the truck on the highway anymore, it's mostly a trail rig now with the occasional trip into town on a nice day.

He's alive!  Good to hear from you buddy.

Turns out you didn't miss anything. It rained that weekend and the park was shut down. I myself wasn't going to be able to go anyway do to lack of funds, haha. It's all good.

How did you mount your 5125s again? @allenfab built me a new shock setup back in the spring and I'm running 5125s now as well. I love them so far, though I haven't had them on the trail yet. They (and Todd's shock setup) work a hell of a lot better than the Nitrochargers ever did on the neighborhood speed bumps, lol.

Oh, and I've also got a matching 3rd Gen T4R now in addition to the OGT. It's even green.

Wow, totally forgot I posted in this thread. Well thanks for getting back to me! I think I've decided on just getting Dakars.

    Yep.

    Oh ok. I gotcha.

I'll post a couple pics that I took right after I put them on. I'm not super happy with how they perform but they work good enough till I lift the truck up a little more so and get them more vertical. I'll have to check out your setup.

Nice. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one also. My girlfriend is wanting to buy a 1st tacoma after the first of the year but I might try to talk her into a 3rd gen 4runner.

Here ya go... I really don't have that many pic of them and I have flipped them over after it was pointed out to me I had them mounted upside down, but they work well...

    IMG_20160608_182852304_HDR.jpg IMG_20160608_183227269.jpg

They're only 10" travel 5125s, but given they are mounted a bit more inboard than the stock locations, I think I'm getting pretty good articulation out of them. Really wish I could have left them mounted that way so the ugly ass boots were hidden up under the truck instead of on display.

Oh ok. That looks awesome. That's how I would like to get mine mounted but I'm running the 14" travel ones. As far as the boots go, just cut them off. The boots are known for collecting and holding water and grit, anyway. The ones on my 5100's for sure held crap and I think that is what did them in. Do a little research before you do it but I know I've seen other people talking about cutting them off. On the other hand, I don't see where it hurts to run them upside down. They are sealed and charged so they should absorb the same no matter how they are turned.

    Thanks.

Hmm...Todd is running 12" 5125s with his 63s, same configuration mine. He seems to get damn good articulation out of it. I don't think he's bottoming them out at full droop, so perhaps 12s would be the better way to go to let you mount them straight? Maybe slap a set of 12"s on it and keep the 14"s for when you lift it more?

Oh, and I love the T4R. It's my preferred vehicle for running around town in. The poor OGT just sits under the carport crapping parts unless I need to haul something too big or too dirty to put in the T4R, haha. Having said that, the stock suspension on the thing is far inferior to the suspension on the OGT. It rides like crap in comparison (but still marginally better than the Honda Civic it replaced). I think that will be easily fixed by getting a set of Billies and OME springs for it. Wanna go up 2.5" or so so I can fit a set of 265/75R16s under it. Probably Kumho KL-71s like you used to have. Don't really plan on wheeling it anytime in the foreseeable future, but I do want it to be marginally capable in case I get a wild hair. :D At the very least, I want it to sit up a bit higher so I don't have to worry about the flooding we get at the end of our street at times.
