Got mine in the mail today!

I must say I am super impressed with the build quality of this filter.

Now to go install it and remove the secondary filter.

Just went on a 300 mile road trip after a 500 mile road trip 4 weeks ago. Only difference was the AFE Pro Dry S.

    2005 DoubleCab TRD OR - 28K

Stock filter - 22.8mpg average on 500 mile trip

AFE ProDryS - 23.9mpg average on 300 mile trip

Initial stats: 200 miles @ 16.8mpg w/ AFE. Previous tank w/ OEM: 17.6mpg. Not looking good so far but we'll see over time.

OK, I'm not the only one who saw a MPG decrease. I lost one MPG on average at first. However, I keep tracking it and it is slowly improving to be what it was before I put the AFE in. I'm going to keep tracking it as it appears the computer is re-learning itself due to the increased airflow?? No, I did not see the need to disconnect the battery cable before installation of the filter.

A 1 MPG variation on one tank of fuel is statistically insignificant. Weather, traffic, stomping on it to get butt dyno readings, can all easilly cause that. Check what you get as an average over several tanks for a better measurement.

I'll agree to disagree with you. I've been checking my mileage almost every single tank since I purchased the truck brand new. Based on my driving history and style I know exactly where the fuel gauge needle should be based on a certain amount of miles. When it drops 1MPG it is very noticable.

Sounds like you watch as closely as I do then. I'll look forward to hearing how this ends up working out for you.

I will report back. I honestly believe it's the 'puter relearning. After about another month I expect to see it back to my normal, which is 20.5 to 20.9 MPG per tank. If it continuously shows higher, even better.

In the age of EFI and computers, is there really a learning curve? Don't think that would be the case, as the computer reacts to three primary items....throttle, air, and fuel. The computer doesn't know more air is entering the equation due to an AFE. It just knows how to properly mix the required amount of fuel for the throttle position you have your foot on.

Is the computer learning, or are you changing habits tank to tank to tweak results?
