Hey guys I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner 2WD double cab completely stock and i wanted to put on Lt285/70/R17 Pro Comp A/T sports. I was looking at doing the 3 in. Pro Comp leveling lift kit, it would raise it 3 in. in the front and 1 in. in the rear. I was defiantly planning on doing however big wheel spacers I would need. Does anyone know if this combination works, I'm afraid that 285's are going to be too big. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First and foremost Welcome to TW. 3 inch lift will clear 285's , some minor trimming may be necessary as well as a cab mount chop. All depends on the rig+ tire selection. If you are keeping your stock wheels you will need spacers. The search button is your friend here. There are plenty of threads that have the info you need. But do yourself a favor and research alot before you purchase anything. Might as well do it right the first time. Procomp lift definitely has some not so great reviews .

What is something that is relatively cheap that would be able to clear 285's that you suggest or that other people find popular

In case you were woundering. I have 2.5 inches of lift up front and plan to clear 285's with minimal cutting next month. Cab mount chop will be done beforehand

That all depends on what you want to do with the rear. Alot of options, if you just did 5100s and spacers in the front. About $200 if your a little handy with a wrench and can install yourself

I am 17 so I'd rather just have someone else do it right, knowing me I would have leftover parts. I am looking to do mine at a 4 wheel drive shop near my house. I went in and told them that I wanted to put bigger tires because I like to go camping and I surf in places that are not paved, they told me to get what I originally said. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about trucks so I'm having a hard time deciding on what to get.

I just had the 5100s on all the way around before set at 1.75 , truck drove great. You can clear 265/70/17 or 265/75/16 without modification. Was a great setup for my for the past 2 years. I'm just now getting the itch that I had to go bigger. You always do lol
But at least a gained a little knowledge in the past couple years to decide what was best to spend my money on for my needs. As I said, just make sure you do alot of research. I also found that not alot of 4x4 ships are familiar with tacoma lifts, more use to lifting Chevy and fords. That's just my opinion though

All in all. If you put whatever lift you want in Google and type tacomaworld next to it. You will usually find a bunch of threads with reviews and all sorts of info. That's been my hobby for some time now lol. It happens to us all. Good luck with your set up. Make sure you post pics of before and after because we all love pics

Billies and Eibachs, Camburg BJ UCAs, Demello hybrid sliders SOS HC rear bumper, SOS front bumper, Warn M80000, fully armored, Safari snorkel, No-slip locker, diff breather, bumper and roof mounted light bars, onboard Viair, 275/70 17 BFG ATs, and a badass sound system.
I've got 275/70/17s. It's a less popular size than 285 but I went with them because I bought the tires before I installed my lift. I had some minor rubbing before the lift and zero rubbing after. I do have wheels with a decent offset, That will make all the difference. I'm sure I could easily clear 285s with my 2.5" lift these days, no cab mount chop required.

Weather tech's, sliders, 5100's, OME, aal, level 8's, raptor grill, hid's/led's...leather coming soon.
I'm running Billie 5100's all around, 885 coils, 1.5 aal with 285/75/16 and it fits fine. Had minimal trimming, and got alignment into spec just fine.
