Dealing with overspray........

My wife was spray painting some shelves in the back yard, last week. My truck was 50+ yards away and there wasn't much of a breeze, so I didn't think to move it, but I noticed minuscule white specs on the hood today.......

I tried scrubbing and it didn't seem to take any off. What's the best way to get the overspray off?

Yep, Clay is the next thing to try. $20 kit at any auto parts or big box store. I like the Meguires, but Mothers is probably fine, too.

 

Before someone suggests it - don't use a god damn Mr Kleen Magic Eraser.

Clay bar will handle it with ease.

 

Goo off works pretty good for paint and tar in my experience. 100% successful too. In Texas everyone things a truck is a a dime a dozen and don't mind hitting my white tuck with their red, black, green or even yellow car doors. Goo Off with one rag, the a rag soaked in water to clean the goo off afterwards and....

 

Are you sure it's "good off" and not "goo gone"???

One is ok for paint, and ONE IS NOT OK. I am thinking the one you want to use is goo gone, but I can't remember for sure.

Clay or clay sponges

 

Laquer thinner worked great for me. Mine was point blank and had been there awhile (thanks previous owner). At 50 yards the Clay bar should be enough tho.

 

That's Goof Off, BTW and it is NOT safe to use on car paint. It will dull the finish. Let it sit long enough and it will also act like a stripper. Goo Gone is a citrus oil based adhesive remover that is safer, but obviously not as strong.

Sucks that they decided to name both products similarly. Hard to avoid these kinds of mix ups.
