Out of curiosity, did you notice any difference in fuel economy when you removed the air dam?

+2mpg. But, I had the air dam on from December - March and it's been off since. So I think the slight increase in mileage is more due to the summer months than any correlation to the air dam being on or off.
The OR doesn't have the air dam stock, but still is rated with the same economy. Maybe there would be a noticeable difference if you were doing 65MPH for 250 miles on a highway straight :notsure:

Right. All things being equal like pedal pressure, gusts of wind, etc you'd notice a difference. Otherwise, not so much.

Correct. And I think its freaking ugly and haven't seen a reason to stick it back on for economy reasons.

Well sounds like you should think about doing a road trip then. Tacomas are very plentiful here. The dealership closest to me probably has 30 or more of them on his lot right now (not that I would ever buy a car from them). I think because we live in a more suburban area that we have more dealerships with more in stock inventory. I usually have the dealerships working against each other to for me to get the best price. I have done this quite a few times for myself and other friends/family and we usually do pretty good. Good place to start is to get a hold of a Sunday Boston newspaper and check out the deals

This is probably true for any type of vehicle that you're thinking of buying

That too. It's a goddamn neckbeard, lol.

I'm driving to Augusta tonight after work to see if Charlie's will do anything for me. Then I'll have visited the three 'local' (around here 'local' means less than an hour away, lol) dealerships and I can start playing them against each other over the phone.

Well keep us informed of what kind of deal they are willing to give. I'd love hear what they're willing to do and can even make a call or 2 for you to some dealerships if you want

Sound like the same way I felt about my gen 2 from my gen 1. The gen 1 just felt like a rugged Tonka truck. The gen 2 felt more like my cousins Honda Pilot. Not bad mind you, but not truck-like. It also didn't help that the first time I launched my boat on what is a very rocky launch, I lost one of the mud "flaps". Notice the quotes? They aren't really flaps, are they? Should be called lower fenders. My mud flaps on my gen 1 lasted 230,000 miles+ without any issue.

The dealer I bought my gen 2 from worked with me on price a bit. I got it for invoice anyway, which was almost 2k lower than the sticker. And it had to come from New York. Grappone in Bow, NH. They had at least 20 Tacomas on the lot.

Yeah, I miss my '99 still. Thing would go wherever you pointed it. Highway ride was loud as hell, but it was a tank offroad.

Mine was loud as hell too, especially once the cat-back exhaust went in  pretty unbearable...

I ended up stripping the whole cab and lining everything in MLV (mass loaded vinyl, comes in a roll) top to bottom, and bought some adhesive backed rubber from a car audio site to line the doors with. The only area I couldn't get to was fire wall, but I kinda like hearing all the feedback from the motor :notsure:

It took some elbow grease and better part of two days, but the difference was angelic :cookiemonster:.....windows up its scary quiet

I miss mine too, it was awesome. But ya loud and unrefined, which I sort of liked. The simplicity of it was nice. Then again I traded it for something with rubber floors/minimal sound deadening so I guessi didn't stray too far

Got up on top of the woodshed I'm building last night to put the roofing panels on. It's amazing how much putting siding on stabilizes a 2x4 wall structure, lol. When I was nailing the roof stringers on it was shifting/swaying all over the place, even with the lateral bracers I'd nailed on to hold it plumb. Boarded up the sides and when I got back up to do the roof panels it was rock solid.
