Some of the Carolina group will be at the Nashville gathering. My thought processes behind that was the group from Alabama could travel up there and meet them to since we will be meeting up with them in Moab.

Has anyone thought about leaving Moab a day early and hitting the Alpine loop in Colorado on the way home? Black Bear Pass, Cinnamon Pass, and Ouray.

Depending on money I've thought about staying longer and really getting to explore. This will be the last summer I get to do much for a few years so I want to get the most out of this trip.

To me time is more of a restraint, I can budget for this since we've started so early, but being able to get off work much more than a week like that is probably not possible.

I guess I was confused for a bit about if we were our own trip to Moab or leeching onto another group vs just meeting up with them. My preference would be to keep the group smaller than larger. As in our group doing our own thing but working in maybe one day of wheeling/camping with the SC group.

That's a long haul. I was thinking we could do a central meetup to make it easy on some of us that live south of Montgomery.

We can do both, Nashville is a long haul for you so that's cool if you don't go, we are just going to try to go to meet some other folks and ride a bit. We can plan a "bama specific" meet up more centrally located.

Yeah as far as I know we will probably do our own thing most of the trip and probably meet up with the SC when we set up for camp and maybe wheel with them one day. As far as the meet, Oak MNT is in Birmingham.

No way, you'll be in it. Oak Mtn like Justin said sounds good to me. A Bham meet is pretty central for most everybody in Bama.

I think there has only been 3 of us confirm for the Nashville trip. So its all good, that was just a thought we had Monday. As for Moab, a lot is still open for discussion as what everyone wants to do. I agree with you on keeping the wheeling group smaller. Any decision made about the trip will be posted on here to confirm with everyone and get input on. No decision will be made without making sure everyone is good with it. We will keep you in the loop.

and the "3" is me, you, and Rob (who isn't going to Moab). So really it's only me and Justin who are going to Nashville as of now and Moab as well. We just want to meet some of the possible Carolina folks, and heck...go riding.

MOAB: I need to do research on more trails. I would really like to get up in the mountains that overlook Moab and the surrounding area. I think that would be a really cool ride, I saw some picture on a thread somewhere so thats something to think about too.

Do it. I honestly don't care what trails we do so I will let the rest of the group decide that.

As long as we get pictures of TOP OF THE WORLD the trip will be a success.

I'm buying a few books for Moab from Amazon to bring for the meetup and my laptop. Mapping is a small hobby of mine and I am currently building/collecting trail routes for my tablet topo program.
One of the things I'd like to do at a meetup would be nail down a rough itinerary for each days travel.

I've been thinking about it. There's plenty of time to hit a lot of trails. Moab can be done in 3 days. Sedona (Broken Arrow) is half a day's drive to the south and Colorado is right next door and on the way home. The Alpine Loop is on my bucket list.
