Cool - I'll stick with the AAL then since I already have it. Had to re-convince the lady to take them out of my old leafs so I could put them in my new ones. Would be a lot simpler if they would just do it for me...or not have recalls for their product in the first place

If you talk to the right service writer who knows a tech that is willing to for their service price. You might get lucky. But they can't warranty things like that. Toyota is the best that figures recalls out better than most other car manufacturers. They want their stuff on the road for ever and keep bringing people back. At least they are willing to give you a freshly new pack for free. Yes I use to work for Toyota and my cousin still does.

 

Well they just came back to me and said they can't take the old pack apart, all the can do is a straight swap. They will give me the old pack back so I get the pleasure of taking it apart myself to get my AAL out to put in the new pack...

@Sandman614 is all of this in your wheelhouse or should I just buy a new AAL? I'm going to at a minimum need to buy a new extended bolt right since we will probably have to cut the current one to get the leaf in?

 

The dealership that is doing my frame swap (Danville Toyota) said they would install my AAL into the new leaf pack for half price labor since they are already going to be swapping them out. But like MrBedGood said they wont cover it under warranty. Waiting to see what "half price" labor equates to in dollars and if its too much I might try and do it myself.

 

Labor cost at most dealers is $107 to $120 per hour

 

So they are putting the factory on in and putting the entire old leaf pack in your bed. Hendrick did the same for me. Bring it and we'll get it done. Bolts can be got a lowes, theres one right up from the house.

 

Im worried they are going to say it took them 3-4 hours which would be total BS. We will see what they say Im almost at 6 months waiting for the frame to come in. They told me 3-6 months and all but guaranteed it would be closer to 3 months. Im actually hoping it goes over 6 months so I will have some leverage with toyota corporate. Next wednesday would be 6 months so they will be getting a call from me and Im hoping I can talk them into installing all my aftermarket goodies for free for taking so damn long.

 

They won't agree to free man. That service money goes to the dealership and mainly the tech. That is the fault of the writer for telling you closer to 3 months.
The tech wants to get your job out of the way as fast as he can do he can get on to another job and get more money in his pocket.

 

Agreed the dealership wont do anything for free but Im going to push it up the chain with corporate and ask them to cover the labor costs for installing the new shocks/coils up front and AAL. Ive seen a few people in the frame rust recall thread that had some success getting things paid for by Toyota because they were unhappy with either not getting a loaner with a trailer hitch or the frame taking forever to come in. I can complain about both of those things so Im keeping my fingers crossed.
